Ontarians want booze at corner store: Poll

Old news. But don't think that the OLGC is going to give up all that easy.
Their pockets are deep enough that they could go and buy up all the corner stores.

The survey also found that 48 per cent of Ontarians believe The Beer Store is owned by the provincial government. Only 5 per cent were aware that it’s owned by Molson Coors (which has a 49 per cent stake), Labatt (49 per cent) and Sleeman (two per cent).
Labatt is a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch/InBev, while Sleeman is owned by Japan’s Sapporo. The Beer Store accounts for 85-90 per cent of beer sales in Ontario, while the LCBO accounts for most of the rest.

Count me in as one of those did not know the breakdown, thanks.

I did know that the breweries own the "Beer Store" it operates due to a long standing agreement with the LCBO. The sheer volume of beer that moves around in this province could never have been moved efficiently by the "board" hence "The Beer Store".
On the other hand the wineries in Ontario could never feed each and every corner store - logistically speaking. We may find "the usual suspects" at the corner store level - Vincor and Andres. and even THEY may have some problems.

this is has been ongoing since moses was in diapers.......the beer store and lcbo will never give it up....hell, they would then allow independant beer makers to omg, actually sell their product!!!!

I personally think it would be harder to police alcohol sales and more minors would get their hands on booze easily. I know more than a few variety stores that sold smokes to minors at a premium so that didn't work........
