I have a friend (ahem!) who bought a Real Doll....cost him $5K. That's the same as 25 trips to an SP, or about 3 to 4 months of my habit. I guess from a financial point of view if you can conjure up the illusion then it makes sense to go Doll. For me, I'll stick to the real dolls I visit.
