https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ing-knife-wielding-homeless-man-46-times.html

A police investigation into alleged police brutality is underway in Michigan after six officers shot a homeless man 46 times after he failed to follow their instructions in a parking lot.

Amateur video captures the fatal exchange between Saginaw police and 49-year-old Milton Hall after he called the police following an argument with a convenience store clerk.

Refusing to drop a knife after repeated requests, the video shows officers unleash a volley of bullets at the agitated Hall in a move his mother, Jewel Hall Milton, described as a 'firing squad dressed in police uniforms.'

LOL the black reporter says at the end that the man was unarmed with nothing but a knife.

Well geez dude a knife is all it takes!

Any sight of harm to the cops or Innocent victims deserves a shot. Think about it, if it was you?. Don't you want to be protected?.

Yes, it only takes a knife to injure or kill.

Why was there not a taser, Why not a baton, Why not let the dog take a chunk out of him?

Anyway, who cares, this stuff just isn't news anymore. Cops can't win in the court of public opinion.

It does appear he was taking steps toward an officer when the shooting started.

I do wonder why they didn't use the dog, and don't they have tasers?

just the fact is was on CNN tells me the slant of the video is against the police

I'm going to differ and say that it was an execution. The police could have let the dog have a go at him or even tasered him. From the video, he mentioned that he called 911 and seemed to be in distress.

I don't think they needed to pump 46 shots into him. They could of taken out his legs they were so close although I'm aware of the fact Police are trained to hit the torso. It doesn't look good on the cops and the public will get more enraged when they witness this video.

why didn't they let the dog go? Because the dog might have been hurt or killed by the knife wielding maniac......

Tasers: maybe they didn't have them or, as so many are apt to say, if they used them and the guy died they'd be in deep shit......

I agree, the amount of shots were excessive but I'd have to say that they probably didn't confer as to who was taking the shot....when he started to move away from them they all reacted the same way at the same time, drop him.

Of course the public will be traumatized by this, they aren't trained to deal with shootings and that there is the rub: in our society of instant and uncensored news, we'll see all sorts of things like this. Kind of like the issues with war these days...people just can't handle the truth.

Let's not all forget some simple basic undeniable facts:
The man who was shot was in control of the situation, the cops were in reactive mode. He would have been fine if he just dropped the knife.
The cops are tasked with the sworn duty to NOT let the armed man leave, move, or escape, no matter what the cost to him.
It is easy to armchair quar****ack while we're sitting here in our jammies, we weren't there, we didn't have to make split second decisions.
We the general public put the cops into the position that they had to do something then sit back and criticize when they do what they are supposed to.

Finally: did any innocent people get hurt? Nope. In that case, the police did the thing: protect the innocent.

It's not an easy job to be a police officer these days. To the public 6 officers and a police dog are expected to take the criminal down without killing him. In reality the public is probably much better off without this individual breathing the same air. He was obviously a trouble maker and would have eventually if not already harmed innocent people but the optics of 46 shots pumped into him will not sit right with his community.

I was thinking about this today and it reminded me of an incident that happened a few years ago in toronto. I nutbar started waiving a machete around on a crowded streetcar...the people got off uninjured and the police were called.

They sealed the front and rear doors and tried to get him to drop the machete. He wouldn't, I think they tried for 5 minutes or so and then he made a sudden move and was shot and killed. Everyone cried blue murder since he was mentally unstable....fucking idiots. Does being mentally unstable give one a free pass? Nope. If you wield a weapon, and are ordered to drop it by armed police, and you don't, for WHATEVER reason, you're going down....end of story.

I remember seeing "mom" on the video saying that he didn't deserve this....well, if he was so unstable, why wasn't "mom" keeping an eye on him 24/7? why is/was it up to the police to watch him?

I bet those same people would be screaming for the officer's heads if they DIDN'T shoot him and he walked over and knifed a 10 yr old girl to death......

Sorry, if you don't like the way the police handle these things, become a police officer yourself and walk in their shoes...in fact, become a politician and fight to have the laws and procedures changed....maybe to something nice and warm and fuzzy, like maybe they should throw stuffed teddy bears at him and then buy him a popsicle......

I remember that one. It was a Chinese guy and was waving that machete like a man possessed. I thought he did strike passengers a few times though.
