I have noticed threads in this section are rarely contested and debated. It seems most here only check the lobby and review sections of the board. Perhaps this board needs members who are more up to date with current affairs, political trends and more politically involved. This is why the appeals for a more open pay for hire will fail and more than likey Mr. Harper will bring in the Nordic Prostitution Model to our fair city and wonderful country.

I peruse headlines daily and keep up to date on what's happening with political, religious, legal, social, science, environmental, technology, NASA, IT, Internet and industry issues locally, nationally and internationally.

Myself and many others are often complimented on the fact that we 'know the news before it's news', because our members read it here before they see it anywhere else.

I don't know what else we can do to improve Baz. :wink2:

Perhaps you'd like to go public for us, and teach the media, legal and political communities about what it's like to work as a SP or to be a client? Or you could sponsor a Service Provider who is willing to lobby for the industry, so she doesn't have to keep working, and could focus on making them aware of the issues we would like to see addressed as they debate the situation.

Unfortunately, most of us who work in the industry and would love to speak up, are not able to live our lives in the fishbowl of the public eye.

Another point I would like to make is that HUBGFE has one of the nicest, friendliest atmospheres I've ever seen in an online industry forum.

I think most of us are here for fun (and sex), and most members deliberately try to keep things drama free and lighthearted. Even when we're discussing hot topics, we're not out to destroy the people who disagree with us.

There are other boards with lots of nasty, heated political and religious debate threads though, so send me a PM if you'd like to know where they are.

Another point I would like to make is that HUBGFE has one of the nicest, friendliest atmospheres I've ever seen in an online industry forum.

I think most of us are here for fun (and sex), and most members deliberately try to keep things drama free and lighthearted. Even when we're discussing hot topics, we're not out to destroy the people who disagree with us.

There are other boards with lots of nasty, heated political and religious debate threads though, so send me a PM if you'd like to know where they are.

An alternative view might be the board needs less of some member as opposed to more of a certain type.

Baz, politics and religion tend to be very divisive, especially on the internet. I'm glad everyone here, with their sets of beliefs and world views respected, devote more time to the things that matter: To make the community laugh or be entertained. The world's a dark place, let's shine some light into our little corner.

As for the Nordic model, it would fail to stand up to another court challenge, and trust me, there would be one. I'm very active on that front, and what SPOC has started, others are joining in. Second, the social services offered in Sweden and those places are a million times better than in Canada (thanks to Harper, as luck may have it). It is arguably oppressive for sex workers in those countries, it would be undeniably so here with what we have on hand.

Sarah, you are well spoken and well intentioned. I do not intend to destroy people either but to debate a topic in a civil manner without name calling and devises statements as Dreamblade pointed out makes for a more enlightened membership. I have read the lobbies of the other boards as the links were emailed to me by some members suggesting I join up there. I made a promise to my darling wife I would not participate in any other forum and I would only be on a read only expedition. I have kept my promise and did just that. I can tell you I am impressed with the following here in the way you all seem to conduct yourselves in comparison to the other forums. The debates on one board in particular are impressive from an information POV but the discussions quickly breaks down into mud slinging or a boys locker with the participants having all went though a complete cycle of steroids and HGH. The other two boards are a creation Vince Mcmahon himself would be proud of. I'm learning quite a bit and having virtually no experience in the field I can honestly say I am very well versed in the hobby from a voyeur's view point.
