@ Cristy: It's unlikely that any homosexual men have been charged with 'soliciting for the purpose of prostitution, for a couple of reasons:
1) The Liberal government relies on a certain proportion of the gay voting block to maintain their balance of power, and prosecuting any one of that group would be considered a prosecution of all of them, and
2) No male police officer would be willing to do the undercover assignment, with 'cameras everywhere', and his union would back him up, regardless of what he had done, to 'earn the assignment'.
Imagine the rumors that would circulate, if somebody with a cell phone recognized a cop in drag, video-recorded the officer without being noticed, (and without having the phone destroyed, or confiscated), then posted the video on a social media site, with the cop's name, and his civvie or uniform face shown! That cop would never be able to convince anyone that he wasn't gay, and one of the gay cops wouldn't take the assignment, either, because they're all either closeted, or 'diversity poster boys'.
Even though the vast majority of cops are heterosexual white males, there's only one like that in a police poster, among the representatives of several multicultural and multi-persuasional tokens.
Keep in mind that laws are made by political parties, but verdicts are issued by Judges. Bill C-36 is a law passed by a Party no longer governing Canada. Canadians traditionally disobey any unpopular law passed by a Party no longer in power. The current Party with a Parliamentary majority generally approves of this 'civil disobedience', but doesn't change the law back to what it used to be. Local police departments enforce the law that is on the book, if they have nothing better to do. In backwaters like Sydney, where there may be insufficient crime to justify the number of cops, or in any place where the local political majority is not the same as the National majority, uneven application of an unpopular law will be applied, but the Judges tend to side with common sense, unless the accused is a un-remorseful habitual offender, who always gets caught.
Publicizing the name of an unconvicted citizen, merely charged with a crime, is a shameful act, perpetrated by biased media sources. No one ever prosecutes someone for finding someone guilty in the court of public opinion, and only individuals who are not part of designated special interest groups are allowed to be convicted in this manner.
If a lesbian attempted to procure the services of the undercover hooker cop, she would be issued only a verbal warning, if she gave the cop a 'sob story'. That's what it's come down to.
