I am writing from the States. This is my hypothesis -- the lack of sexual activity during deployment is the reason our boys come home with PTSD. There is a certain anxiety that comes with military deployment. Separation from family, view of different cultures, and for some, being scared shitless coupled with killing others can all work together to cause grief, rage, and eventually, post traumatic stress disorder -- UNLESS that stress is relieved on site.
I know that in Vietnam, sexual release was easily found. The army actually had R&R centers that worked closely with the local sex providers. I know that in some of the theaters in Europe during WWII sex was easily found. I know, too, that in areas where it was not available - Iceland - the suicide rate among the troops was unbelievable. Therefore, it is my belief that prostitution should be associated with all armed forces units serving overseas. These poor guys today serving in Afghanistan -- no sex, no alcohol. Video games are not enough to relieve stress! No wonder they're coming back screwed up.
