The problem with ratings is that we all disagree with each other on what we consider the most appealing characteristics.
Also in the long run, we all get ugly, but character is constant.

Rating is based on one person's opinion. You have to have to have a baseline of the individual's taste to properly rate their ratings.

Just admit it to yourselves - 99% of the time, 99% of both men and women judge others and themselves based solely on physical appearance. If the physical appearance sniff test gets a passing grade, the individual in question will then be assessed on all other characters.

If the initial sniff test is a fail, 99% of the time we move on, and don't bother with anything further unless forced to do so by some external influence.

You all sound like you're trying to apologize for being human by nature. Hmmmmmm

I'm with OG. "Judging" people based on their looks is instinctual. I would also add that some of it is based on our own experiences. The human mind has evolved to see patterns in nature. This came in handy in helping to notice a predator or prey animal hiding in the bushes. We don't need to worry about that as much these days, but we still have the natural abilities. Now we apply them differently. Usually, what we see as attractive is a set of characteristics that we have evolved and experienced to be the best for mating. We naturally react to another person as a potential mate or rival for mating. The ones we find most attractive usually have the traits that go with the genetics that would be most complimentary to our own DNA. It's just nature to find some people more attractive than others.


On the other hand.....what you say, do or how you treat people based on their appearance is another subject. We are supposed to have evolved beyond our instincts (though I doubt it). We should be intelligent enough to know that looks aren't everything. We should know that everyone deserves to be treated as equals and with respect (until they blow it). Not every reaction you have to someone's appearance needs to be uttered whether it be positive or negative. There's no need to point out to someone how unattractive their appearance is (MM).

This part is hugely true.

If you have a woman who is from Bev Hills, lives in a gated community, shops only on Rodeo - she could see a man with dirt under his nails as bum
If you have a woman how has traveled to 3rd world countries, and she sees the same man with dirt under his nails, she may see some down on his luck, poor man needing help
If you have a woman from farmer country - she is going to see the same man and think he is a good provider for his family.

We all know the guy just forgot to clean under his nails this morning on his way to his white collar job after a night of partying and is not anything the 3 ladies saw. :wink2:
