assmannath said:So just ended this relationship with a lady. We'd been seeing each other at the agency since November and she had been my go-to anytime she was on schedule. One day during a visit, she gives me her personal number. I was pleasantly surprised and honoured. It wasn't soon after that that we were communicating on a daily basis and learning about each other. We went out a couple of times and had some fun. We kept the separation of business and personal time and we only saw each other for sex on the agency time.
Being a bit of a romantic, I started to care a bit more about this lady than I probably should have. I knew that this was probably not the same feeling that was being returned to me. I accepted this but it didn't stop me from trying to see if it could go further in some respect. It was shot down (nicely) and I accepted that too. Had to at least ask
Basically, the relationship ended because of a misunderstanding of the rules of engagement. It wasn't shared with me and it was assumed I knew but some of those lines had been crossed and I was not notified of turning over the apple cart.
I will miss her, but this is my fourth time around with this situation and it's never turned out well. Lessons learned maybe just for me, but I think a pay for play relationship should remain just that.
It is a very delicate line to tread, and I've often crossed it, sometimes fatally (for the relationship) and sometimes not. Every one of the ladies I've had an extra-professional relationship with wasn't in that relationship for the sex, but for the companionship. Sure, in most cases sex was there and readily available, but on their terms more than mine. That's the price paid for the cause. And I too lost a few over my desire to be more than casual friends...
