When my laptop finally boots up after an hour of trying.

It's only 2 years old! Must be all the intensely hot content on HUBGFE that's wearing it out. :wink2:

It might be overheating! Maybe you can use it as a lap heater! /-Thumbs-up::/

It could be a number of thngs. If you feel like troubleshooting, theres some things you can try.

If it has a regular hard disk drive, do a scan of the hard drive and a defrag.

If it was only that once that took forever to boot up, likely it was installing updates.

Check your disk capacity and make sure it's not full.

Download and install CCleaner. As the name implies, it's a crap cleaner. I use it all the time on my Windows devices. What is does is it cleans all temporary and useless files. It will also delete all your cookies and temporary internet files, which you should do frequently, but if you rely on cookies and stuff, be prepared to have to re-enter your password to sites, and re-enter site URLs. If you absolutely don't want this, make sure you look for and uncheck the Internet section from the Analyze/Cleaning menu.

Go through your installed programs and uninstall anything that looks like bloatware.

Download and install a virus and/or malware checker. Do not use McAfee or Symantec.

Ok, enough for now. That should keep you busy. I would also make sure you have some form of external storage for all your files, either external hard drive or cloud based. I'm old fashioned and don't trust the cloud stuff yet but it does come in handy for the small stuff when I change computers.

Thanks for the advices! I am a bit of a geek myself, so I ran bunch of diagnostics last night and found out it was a problem with the latest Windows 10 critical update. So I did a system restore to before that update tried to install and we'll see if it works correctly next time it tries.

Good find! I haven't used Windows 10 much. I upgraded my old Samsung Chronos to it and the performance tanked so bad that I ended up giving my son my Chromebook (since he was using the Chronos for school). I've already got my eye on a $300 HP Stream 11 Pro. The price keeps fluctuating on Amazon, so as soon as I see it fall enough, it's mine! And the first thing I'll do is wipe the Windows and put on Linux Mint or Xubuntu.
