Really? When Wynona Ryder was gonna be cast as Mai in Mai the Psychic girl back in the 90's, no one cared. When Tom Cruise was cast for Edge of Tomorrow, no one cared. But all of a sudden, an actress with real talent and is hot to boot is cast for Ghost in the Shell, all because Ghost in the Shell is a cult classic, people are up in arms about whitewashing? If the Japanese wanted to do a live action movie with a Japanese actress, they would have made a live action movie ages ago. Instead, they opted for a couple of weird non sensical animate movies. No one movie could ever capture the essence of Ghost in the Shell... seriously, I pick it up every few years and I get something totally different.

Sheesh, it won't be the first time that a japanese story gets the America treatment and it won't be the last. I highly doubt this movie will have any of the philosophical elements that made the books so great, and I highly doubt it'll have any of the very risque fan service that made it so naughty. I doubt we'll be seeing ScarJo prancing around in a thong and skintights!

He is too short and black hair. Looked really funny with his dyed blond hair.

Tom Cruise is actually a pretty darn good actor, but really only within his comfort zone. If they had taken the old Batman movies more seriously, or done them sooner, I think he would've made a pretty good Dick Grayson/Robin, and who knows, maybe we would've had a decent Nightwing movie series.

I like Scarlett Johansson because like Charlize Theiron, she occassionally does movies that are way outside what the general public expects of her. Like the the movie Under the Skin:
