What is the proper etiquette and which one are you?.

In the summer time some won't allow you to come in with your dirty shoes while others say come on in we have to mop and clean up after party anyway. In the winter time I can understand and bring an extra pair of shoes to walk in the house but even then some say, don't worry come on in.

So when you host a party, how anal are you about the shoes?.

Always follow the house rules.

If you do not you are a dolt and an unwelcome visitor.

I was taught to take my shoes off.....
I also like people taking their shoes off......

RULE #1

You enter a European's home you remove your shoes unless the insist but Papa has nailed it on the head.

Also avoid wearing shorts, the plastic see through covers covering the sofa's stick to bare skin!

Shoes off. Unless they specifically say not to.

Agreed but what do you do when you get the couple that comes over and she's in her spiked heels and walks right into the living room with the 3/4 inch bamboo flooring?:grrrrrr: It's happened to me and I was livid!

Warning: Make sure their feet don't smell. I've been at parties asking, who hasn't showered in a couple of days?.

I say "Please take off your shoes". If they don't, they can leave. My place, my rules. If they are rude enough to not ask, then I don't think it rude to ask them to take them off or leave.

Always go through the motion of taking them off. The host will eventually tell you what is their rules.

I agree with you but what if it's your boss or in your case what about if it's the wife of a very important client that represents $$$$ to your firm/business?

I always take off my shoes when I go over to somebodies home.

Even if they tell me not to bother. Doesn't feel right otherwise to tell the truth.

And I expect the same from my guests as well. Regardless of who they are.

In some cases, if you really have to brown-nose, then you have to put up with it. But even if it's my boss, I'll ask them politely to remove their shoes. They are the guest. They should behave that way.

I test my guests. Once I see what they do they will on not get an invite the next time around.

I was raised to always take my shoes off when entering someone's home. As my mother would say, "Were you raised in a barn?".

I've also lived in condominiums and was very cognizant if the fact that the people below me probably don't want to hear the click clack of my heels all the time. Unless they have a shoe fetish and the imagination turns them on.

:LMAO: I only wish I lived below you......In a nice way.....:wink2:

I must take my shoes off especially when I am visiting someone's house.
