Ever had one of those days?

My step son lies to us where he is going to sleep tonight. Saying he is going to his father's but found out he is not. He is going to his friend's house to smoke dope. Wife contradicts me after I try to say the truth. Huge argument about it.

Now they are both upset.

Fuck I can't win.

Being a step parent is not easy is it?

Pick your battles wisely!

Let his birth father deal with it. All it will take is a phone call to inform him what his son is up too.

He needs some tough love and I agree with Maurice, it should be done by his biological father if he's still in your step son's life.

Being a parent isn't easy. Being a good parent is even harder and those who take on this role and make the correct decisions not because they are popular but because they are correct, I respect immensely.

Wise words.

I'm more troubled by the wife contradicting WiseGuy. What do you mean? That she doesn't believe you (favours the son) or that she doesn't agree that her son lying or smoking up is a problem?

The easy thing to do is to walk away (not your problem). But, if you actually care about the kid, that's not so easy to do. See how his parents deal with it. If don't handle it well, maybe you can be a role model for him

Have you ever heard the total denial saying?.

That is her but I still love her. Kids will come and go but not a good partner.
