I seem to have moved into a neighbourhood where there is an abundance of spiders. I kill at least one every week. That is a lot to me. And they aren't tiny ones either. Since I live by myself, a sighting is usually followed by shrieking, running to get some paper towels (way more than I need), frantic running around, screeeeaming when it moves, and horrific visuals in my head that eventually motivate me to squish it before it goes too far up the wall.

It creates a lot of angst. I lay awake at night unable to fall asleep cuz I'm envisioning an attic that is reminiscent of the movie Eight Legged Freaks. I have googled my predicament and learned that my only solution is to rid the house of all the webs I see which I had already done the first weekend I moved in. I am anal-retentive when it comes to cleanliness so every speck of my house is clean, except for the attic that I don't dare venture into. So lord knows what's hidden up there.

Do any of you have any suggestions for me? Is there a product in existence for girly girls like me that I can purchase and simply spray the spiders away with? Please say yes.

look on the bright side

the average person eats maybe 10 spiders a year in their sleep.

I know that they don't like warmer temperatures. When you watch a movie and see 'em running out of a drain, it's because someone is aiming a warm hair dryer at them to get them to run away from it. I know in my house I start to see 'em at changes of season when they are coming down from the hot attic or going back up when the heat is turned on in the fall.

Diatomaceous earth spread around the outside of your foundation will help kill any trying to come in from the outside. You can find it at a hardware store and it only effects bugs with exoskeletons. It sticks to 'em and causes them to dry out. I don't think it is dangerous to other things besides the creepy crawlers.

at Home Depot

Amy just say to yourself. It could be worse, better to have spiders than rats in your home ;/Waving://

I've never tried it myself, but i've been told that if you spray them with heavy-hold hairspray, they won't be able to move.

Spiders creep me out too.

Thank you so much everybody! I will try the eucalyptus sprigs and possibly hairspray *Shudder*

This could easily be a review of me. :blush2:

Spiders are your friends Amy. They keep the fly population in check. And yes they can be icky.

Robin, look what you've done NOW!

Priest come back, it's ok Amy took care of all the spiders.
