He graduated from Stanford. He once coached men's lacrosse. He's spent much of his career prosecuting sex crimes. And he's touted himself as a defender of battered women.

But the world knows Aaron Persky as the California judge who sentenced a Stanford athlete to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious 23-year-old woman behind a dumpster.
"A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him. I think he will not be a danger to others," Persky said when handing down the sentence last week to Brock Turner, who was convicted of three counts of felony sexual assault.

The decision has ignited a heated debate on women's rights, parenting and the legal system's treatment of white, middle-class men.
At the center of it all is Persky.

If the woman was unconcious, how can she claim that the rape ruined her life? How can she claim that the rape had any mental effect on her at all. Being unconcious means being unaware of your state of being.

She said in court:

"You took away my worth, my privacy, my energy, my time, my intimacy, my confidence, my own voice,"

The woman is using dramatic language to describe something that she doesn't have any memory of.

Are You Empathic? 3 Types of Empathy and What They Mean

You might recall President Bill Clinton's famous quote, "I feel your pain." It suggested that he had empathy and it made him seem more human and in touch with his constituents. Did he really mean it? And, is feeling someone else's pain a good thing, or a bad thing?

Psychologist Mark Davis has suggested that there are 3 important types of empathy. The first is a purely "cognitive" form of empathy that he terms "Perspective-Taking." This is being able to see things from another's point of view. Putting yourself in someone else's shoes. It is important to better understand where someone is coming from, but it's not what we typically think of as empathy.

A second type of empathy, and one that is represented (literally) by Clinton's comment, Davis terms "Personal Distress." Personal distress is literally feeling another's emotions. When you are watching a scary movie, and you start to empathize with the hero and feel afraid, that is personal distress in action. You are actually feeling the other's emotion through a process called "emotional contagion." The actor, or another person, is actually "infecting" you with their emotion. We all experience personal distress, but too much of it may not be a good thing. Some people are so prone to feeling other's emotional states that they are battered about by the feelings and emotions of others (thus the label of "distress").

Bill Clinton didn't really mean that he felt someone's pain (i.e., vicariously felt the other's emotion). What he meant was the third type of empathy: Empathic Concern. This type is what we most often think about when we hear the term "empathy." It is the ability to recognize another's emotional state, feel in tune with that emotional state, and if it is a negative/distressful emotion, feel and show appropriate concern.

In reality, we all have some level of each of the types of empathy. The key is to understand the ways that we are empathic with others, and to realize the strengths and limitations of each type of empathy.

From 12 years maximum penalty to 6 months. Something is very wrong here.

MAL....are you saying that if you passed out and you were ass-raped by a bunch of drunken homosexuals that it would have no lasting effect on you?

Yeah. Nevermind the fact that she could probably feel him having raped her when she came to (bruising of the genitals is often an occurence in a rape), there's undergoing the rape-kit procedure, the questioning by police and defence attorneys, the shame, the pity.... Yeah, she has nothing to be upset about at all.

Question, MAL: Are you really that dumb, or are you just trolling/ Cuz you seriously sound dumb.

I think he is a drama seeker and a poser, or he's truly confused to whom he truly is. Regardless, his comments in this thread are his most ignorant and abhorrent to date. Shame on you Mal!!

If I had no recollection of it, how could it traumatize me?

Let's face it, you'd love it. Look at some of your previous posts, guys don't care how or from whom they get it. <hurhurhur> Remember it or not, getting it is still getting it. And getting it is good. So love it up, fun boy.

As for no recollection or being raped, yet traumatized.... Maybe try starting with going to a party and drinking, next thing waking up in the ER, and being told you were found behind a dumpster. Then to read the following...

One day, I was at work, scrolling through the news on my phone, and came across an article. In
it, I read and learned for the first time about how I was found unconscious, with my hair
disheveled, long necklace wrapped around m
y neck, bra pulled out of my dress, dress pulled off
over my shoulders and pulled up above my waist, that I was butt naked all the way down to my
boots, legs spread apart, and had been penetrated by a foreign object by someone I did not
recognize. This was how I learned what happened to me, sitting at my desk reading the news at
work. I learned what happened to me the same time everyone else in the world learned what
happened to me. That’s when the pine needles in my hair made sense, they didn’t fall from a tree.
He had taken off my underwear, his fingers had been inside of me. I don’t even know this
person. I still don’t know this person. When I read about me like this, I said, this can’t be me.

But I forget, all women are really just gold digging whores, who care attention, and will do anything to get it. Silly me.
