(BlackMediaScoop) A New Orleans mother shot her 3-year-old son, drowned her 4-year-old daughter and took a bus to a hospital, complaining of stomach pains and a headache, police said.The children’s bodies were found in the bathtub of her home Wednesday evening, the New Orleans Police said in a statement. The mother, identified as 23 year old Chelsea Thornton, admitted to officers that she killed the young children.

After the killings, she said she boarded a bus to a nearby hospital. Thornton, seen below, faces first degree murder charges. Family members were left bewildered as to what happened from the time the 23-year-old mother picked up her children from nursery school to about 5:30 p.m., when the children’s paternal grandmother discovered their bodies in a bathtub in the Gert Town apartment.

Family members said they worried about the woman, and her care of the children. “I wish she would’ve opened up more to us,” said Nicole Hammons, a cousin of the children’s father. “As family members, we could’ve pushed harder. We were concerned for the kids. We obviously didn’t know this would happen.”

At some point Wednesday afternoon, the mother called the father, who does not live with her, and asked him to meet her at a hospital because she was not feeling well.
When the 29-year-old father arrived there, he asked where the children were. The mother said they were at day care, but he sent his mother with a key to the apartment to check on them anyway, Hammons said. The grandmother found the bodies of Chelsea Adams, 4, and Kendall Adams, 3, in the bathtub, Hammons said.

A relative of the children’s father was outside the apartment Wednesday as detectives worked inside.
“There is no reason for this. I just wish that we could have helped her and helped them,” Nicole Hammons said. Hammons said the father of the children had an off -and-on relationship with Thornton.

“He tried to help her and help their kids, and other family members also tried to help her. You can only go so far,” she said.

Most doctors would not sterilize a woman that young without a compelling medical reason. I tried to get my tubes tied when I was 28 and they wouldn't do it, even though I already had a child.

Relative shoots costumed girl after mistaking her for a skunk

A little girl was fighting for her life early Monday after she was shot outside a Halloween party by a relative who mistook her costume for a skunk.

Police in western Pennsylvania's New Sewickley Township said the 9-year-old girl was dressed in black with a black hat for the Saturday evening party.
As the two to three dozen guests milled about, the girl went to hide on the edge of a hill.

It was past 8 p.m. and the sun had long set. A relative spotted the dark figure in the distance, mistook it for a skunk and fired his shotgun, said Officer Greg Carney with the township police.
The girl was hit in the neck, back and arm - and flown to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, about 30 miles away. There, she remained in the intensive care unit, Carney said.

Police will determine later Monday whether they will charge the shooter, whom they did not name. Nor did they say how he was related to the girl.
They did add, however, that the man had not been drinking.

Pregnant woman stabbed at Liverpool primary school

A pregnant woman has been stabbed repeatedly in the grounds of a Liverpool primary school.

Police said the 28-year-old victim and her unborn baby were both in a stable condition in hospital.
The stabbing happened in the grounds of Lister Primary School, Green Lane, Stoneycroft, at about 12:30 GMT.

Merseyside Police has arrested a 39-year-old woman from the Stoneycroft area on suspicion of her attempted murder.

'Despicable attack'The attack happened on a path in the school grounds, but not near classrooms.

None of the pupils at the school are believed to have witnessed the stabbing.
Det Insp Martin Earl described it as "a despicable attack on a vulnerable lady".

He said: "This must have been very distressing for anyone who saw it and I would like to reassure residents that this type of incident is isolated and was not related to the nearby school."

A five-year old Saudi girl has died after she was tortured by her father, described as a “prominent” religious scholar who often preaches on numerous satellite television channels.

Lamaa breathed her last breath in an intensive care unit of a hospital in the Saudi capital Riyadh a few days ago, after weeks of suffering from broken arms, a skull fracture and head bruises, her mother told Al Arabiya.

“He used all sorts of torture and abuse against Lamaa,” the girl’s mother said, now divorced from her brutal husband.

The mother explained that after she was divorced she had an “agreement” with her former husband regarding the daughter they shared.

Recently, he took his daughter for two weeks as per “the agreement” but he never returned her back, the mother said, adding that she was “surprised” to receive a call from the public prosecutor in Hotat Bani Tamim, located 160 km south of Riyadh, asking her to go to Shamisi Hospital.

The medical report indicated that Lamaa was tortured with whips and electric shocks. She was even burned with an iron, the mother said.

The hospital matron said the man admitted to beating his daughter, but did not explain why.

“I was shocked and could not believe what happened to Lamaa when I saw her. I could not believe that is no mercy in people's hearts,” Lamaa's mother said.

When she asked her former husband at the hospital why he tortured Lamaa, he replied with a “chuckle only.”

The mother and the hospital refused to provide the name of the man and only described him as a “well known” television preacher.

Cassidy Goodson, the teen who admitted killing her newborn baby and hiding him in a shoebox this fall, used a Santa Claus doll to show investigators exactly how she strangled him in her bathroom shortly after giving birth, according to new evidence released in Florida.

The video evidence shows Goodson, 14, re-enacting how she killed the baby boy using the doll in the very bathroom she gave birth in on Sept. 19, three days before her mother discovered the dead newborn in a shoebox and called police.

“Its eyes weren’t open, but I felt to see if it was breathing or not — and it did — so I put my hands around its throat to make it stop breathing,” she said, according to .

It only took a minute before the baby was dead, she said. A detective off-camera asked Goodson how hard she had to squeeze, to which she replied, “Enough for it to stop breathing.”
An autopsy revealed that the infant died of asphyxia from strangulation and blunt force trauma, according to a police news release dated Sept. 28.

Goodson explained in the video that she didn’t want to disappoint her parents, so she hid her pregnancy with baggy clothes and gave birth in secret. According to police, she began to feel ill on Sept. 17 and realized on Sept. 19 that she was delivering. She placed a towel in her mouth and ran the water to muffle any noise she made.

She described to police that she used a pair of scissors to “pry the baby out,” before the 9.5 pound boy dropped into the toilet, according to the September news release.
“I was scared of what was going to happen and if I was going to get in trouble,” she said in the new video evidence.

Although Goodson’s mother, Teresa, told her to take two home pregnancy tests, Goodson faked them both because no one was in the bathroom with her.
“”I thought she was just getting fat and gaining weight, honestly,” Teresa Goodson said. “If I would have known this would never have happened.”

Goodson was arrested on Sept. 27 and charged with premeditated first degree murder and aggravated child abuse. She will be tried as an adult and could face life in prison without parole.
