Torture or tasty tradition? Many consider the consumption of meat to be a question of ethics. Here, a pig is roasted during the annual Festa Junina in Guarulhos, a suburb of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Do vegetarians and vegans think they are better than the rest of us? Judging from personal experience, a good number of people who aren't vegetarian or vegan would offer a resounding "Yes" to this question.

Those individuals who publicly tout eating no meat, especially when their stated reason has to do with caring about animals, are thought to be telegraphing a message of superiority: My dietary choices make me a better person than you.

I encounter this sort of thinking frequently in the 13.7community. (I'm very close to, but not quite, a vegetarian, myself.)

When I wrote about the paleo-diet, a reader commented: "You are one more in a long line of vegetarian holier than thou types." When I considered vegetarian diets from an evolutionary perspective, a reader mocked, "Airy, fairy self- righteous, I am more virtuous than thou..."

Another wrote to say, "The worst thing about vegetarians and vegans is that treat it like a religion. They preach, they push, and they act like they are better than the rest of us." And these are just three examples.

So is it true? Do vegetarians and vegans think they're better than everyone else?

Yes.
Like many environmentalists they also live in cities.
I rarely (if ever) meet a vegetarian in the country.

Well they kill plants to eat them. Plants have a right to live also:sorry2:....are they better.....
Meat eater or Plant eater.....

actually with their fake meat this and fake meat that, they wish they were more like me.

you will never catch me eating a fake salad.

I knew a vegan once, relative thru the wife. She thought she was better than everyone else partly because of being Vegan. Its usually bored rich people looking for attention and status. My viewpoint for what its worth...... get over yourself!! lol

Anyone ever fucked a Vegan?.

Did she refuse to suck your dick because it has too much meat?.

I ate a vegan once.
Couldn't find any recipes.
Tastes like chicken.

Vegans don't eat chicken or do they?.

No they don't eat chicken or any meat or meat by products.
Some will avoid red wine because albumen is used in clarification.
Some eventually come down with a protein deficiency that can lead to memory loss (Peter Gabriel had this.)

BUT THEY STILL TASTE LIKE CHICKEN.
Use a nice spicy barbeque sauce and it's passable.

Why must a topic as generic as a vegan end up down a sexual road?

My darling wife is a vegan and she doesn't think she's better than anyone else. It's the diet she prefers, simple as that.

It degenerated to cannibalism not sex.

That is what Bazerko thinks, sex every thread he needs to laugh and loosen up...

I never had a vegan.....thought it would taste like a ceasar salade

Here is my favorite easy recipe for vegan mayonnaise; a staple for making delicious vegan sandwiches, salads, dips, sauces etc. Only takes a couple of minutes!

Blend Together:
  • 1/2 cup soy milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1-2 teaspoons agave nectar
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • a sprinkling of sea salt (or seasoned salt is a substitute with more flavour)
This can be kept in the fridge for around 10 days.

We are what we eat

my piglet friends are all vegans

Therefore the bacon they give me is actually a veggie.

BTW
Despite Bridgette being a true artist with the smoker......She never eats meats.

Squash & barley salad with balsamic vinaigrette

  • Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Place the squash on a baking tray and toss with olive oil. Roast for 20 mins. Meanwhile, boil the barley for about 25 mins in salted water until tender, but al dente. While this is happening, whisk the dressing ingredients in a small bowl, then season with salt and pepper. Drain the barley, then tip it into a bowl and pour over the dressing. Mix well and let it cool . Boil the broccoli in salted water until just tender, then drain and rinse in cold water. Drain and pat dry. Add the broccoli and remaining ingredients to the barley and mix well. This will keep for 3 days in the fridge and is delicious warm or cold.

BTW, you look delicious!:wink2:

I can be vegan for one day if you wish.

But then how can you have my meat :slap:
