To ensure every child 'wins', Ontario athletic association removes ball from soccer

Yeah, pfft, playing "soccer".

joking...just like the article! :Dancing:

According to Association spokesperson, Helen Dabney-Coyle, "By removing the ball, it's absolutely impossible to say 'this team won' and 'this team lost' or 'this child is better at soccer than that child.'"

"We want our children to grow up learning that sport is not about competition, rather it's about using your imagination. If you imagine you're good at soccer, then, you are.

I though this was from The Onion News at first, lol.

This has to be the most asinine thing I ever heard of.

Kids need to learn early that competition is part of life and sports gives them that learning tool.

My guess is that Helen Dabney-Coyle was most likely a terrible athlete growing up and this is her way of getting back at the system that she was so bad at.

The beauty of youth sports! If you let all the mom's control minor league sports, sport will not exist in 5 years.

As one that has coached at elite levels and played in the CIAU, now CIS, there is some merit to some changes in minor sports. I had football coaches that made certain we could play 4 offensive and 4 defensive positions and when our games, minor or high school were out of hand, we would play different positions or switch from offense/defense.

I coach basketball and ensure posts can play the point and guards can play the post. I have practised without a ball and use blocking bags to teach players how to take a hit, make a proper screen and so on.

So you are saying that 10 Helens did not agree?
Oops. Choose an explanation from the following:
1. We have lost a few Helens.
2. With obesity in the states, our 20 Helens match your 30 Helens.
3. In the states we only require a 2/3rds Helen majority.
4. It's the conversion of number of Metric Helens to Imperial Helens.
5. I should have used google before posting.

THIS is THAT is a brilliant CBC weekly comedy show that parodies the "radio news feature" format common to programs like CBC's own daily As It Happens.

:rofl!:

One of my favourite parts of each show is when they play the messages from outraged listeners about the previous week's stories. I have a feeling this will be one of their best yet.
