Toronto Sun used to be one of my favourite online papers, but now they apparently think its a good idea to start charging their loyal readers 99 pesos to be able to access their full articles.

Retarded!!

I paid for a computer.
I pay for internet connection.
I'm not paying again to view online content that should be for free :NoNoNo:

They are only good for their sports section anyway. But the Star is a bias paper, will stick with the Globe and mail.
 
99 cents for a year would be reasonable, if there are no advertisements.
Otherwise I want them to pay me for looking at their site. :no:
 
Its not the 99c, its the principal.

If I have to start paying Sun every month then other newspapers will follow. And soon enough online magazines will want 99 cents a month, and soon after that every website you like will want 99 cents.

Before you know it it'll cost you $100/month just to surf your favourite websites
 
i just find somewhere else to read about the news they want to charge for, screw them.

All news print media, magazines etc... are feeling the hit in the pocket book with the internet taking over. They are trying to figure out how to make money which employees people. We keep taking food off people's table by putting more and more people out of work and remember it will eventually come back to bite us all on the ass.
 
People still read the newspaper?

If the paper is 1.00 and that's 365.00 annually, that money could be better spent on Veronica at Dream-makers for an hour plus a tour of Greece.
 
Lets put it another way....


Someone has to pay the writers for their articles and reports, the old way it was done via selling printed newspapers. On TV its paid for via the commercials and on the internet via ads. Everything has a catch and theres no such thing as a free product. Even this site has to generate money to pay for the servers and tech support.

They should do what they always do, charge the advertiser. People view, more people, more eyes for ads, more eyes for ads more advertisers want to advertise. More ad $$$ to feed the people working.

It is a matter of billing the right people and this case I think they got it wrong.

but it's been the media that has been on this union busting crusade that has turned the public against working stiffs so in a way I wouldn't mind seeing a few journalists and talk show hosts lose their job or have their pay cut.
