Using the salad fork for the main course is a mistake.
RAPE IS A CRIME that dehumanizes the victim and is not a mistake. The mistake to the rapist is being caught. The rape on the other hand was not a whoops or I did not know which fork to use. IT IS A CRIME and should be treated as such.

I am sure that if she were your sister, daughter, girlfriend or casual friend you would give here the BOYS WILL BE BOYS get over it speech.

Please don't get me wrong, I believe committing a rape is one of the most heinous things a human being can do to another.

However if you followed the whole story of how the whole thing went down, I don't believe it is that cut and dry/black and white. Based on what I have read or seen from the news, I think there is a lot more stupidity involved in this case than the true intent to harm a person. I think the way the football team is held in such high regard in the community and that these boys were probably raised and treated socialized them into this "jock" and entitlement mentality. They most likely thought it was "fun" and therefore was dumb enough to not only commit the act but also recorded it and distributed it. There were also other so called witnesses to this whole thing which you typically don't do if your true intent was to rape someone.

Again, not trying to minimize what happened. Just saying that in this case I feel the boys have made a horrible error in judgement, and now their lives and future have changed forever because of it. My whole point was that while making mistakes is all a part of growing up; some mistakes you can't even afford to make even once as there are such consequential results from them that not only affects you but others. That's why it is crucial to instill the proper values to the next generation early on in their lives to help them discern right and wrong so that they can avoid getting themselves into situations that they will regret forever.

There is no error made; they video-taped and transported her from one party to another. Again, I applaud the fact they will be permanently known as sexual offenders. Good luck with that!

If I heard CNN correctly, it was a judge because of their ages. He was also a travelling judge which makes sense having someone from outside of the immediate community.

Apparently, the AG of Ohio is going to further investigate the happenings related to this case, the school, the football team and any potential previous cover ups in Stubenville, Ohio.

The judge chose delinquent over convict as a means to provide rehabilitation; however, according to the Adam Walsh Act, they will have to register as level 3 sex offenders (rapists) for life (25 years) then they can petition to have their status changed.

They definitely deserve time behind bars. Error in judgement or not, it was a heinous thing they did to that young lady and they need to face the consequences of their actions.
