Thanks for the compliments. I found out September 6 that I was type 2 diabetic that's why I lost the weight. I've always been very active but did let myself go.
All I did was quit drinking coca-cola (switched to coke zero/diet coke) 1 per day and that made such a difference. Cut juice out of my diet. Cut white starch out of my diet and if I have grains they are whole wheat multi-grain small portions (Yes I measure servings and count carbs no more than 6 servings of carbs daily and I can have 8 and my plan is to get down to 4 on a regular basis). I cut down on red-meat (2x weekly at most).
I regularly eat chicken, turkey, salmon, haddock, cod, tuna wrap (daily) I bake, broil and steam everything. 10 cups of water, 3 or 4 green teas, 1.5 cup of 1% milk for the seratonin. I take 2 metamucil tablets daily for good fibre and regularity, vitamin D and garlic tablet plus I have to take lipitor and metformin. Healthy snacks, there are potato chips and such that one can have provided you eat only a few daily. If I have a bag of these healthy snacks, it lasts 3 weeks.
No fast food. I drink in moderation, Climb the Niagara escarpment stairs 4x weekly, walk a mile daily and do plyometrics at home. I never checked my weight on a scale, only do that at the doctor's office. I just went by the change in facial appearance and clothing. I've set aside 4k for a new clothing shopping spree later next month. I will keep some of the fat clothes just as a reminder. I went from 38 to 34 waist. I think that's perfect for me. 32 might be too light.
Guys, it's easier than you think to do.
Almost forgot, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in 2009 and used a cpap, but recently I went back to the clinic 2x for retesting and it's gone. No more darth vader mask. The specialist was very clear in 2009, lose weight and you won't need the machine.
My cholesterol and sugar levels are below 3, so I'm proof that type 2 diabetes can be beaten and be maintained for the better.
