Growing up, and probably for a myriad reasons, I was insecure, so much so, if a total stranger would comment negatively to my clothing, I'd change it, if they said I was ugly I'd believe it, if they said I was dumb, I'd believe that. I also heard lots of positive comments, sadly, they didn't resonate as strongly . It took years of hearing those types of negative insults and experiencing negatives circumstances before I began to realize none of them to be true and to understand that some people have to degrade and hurt others to feel better about themselves. We all know this, seems simple, but for me it took a lot of hard knocks to truly get it. Those hard knocks have made me a much stronger and resilient person, perhaps to much so, lol.
What lesson/s have you learned from a negative experience.....

That the only lasting memorial any of us shall every have is how we are thought of by others.

Interesting and a good point, but I'm not sure we should be concerned with that. As others will think what they choose, deserved or not. All any of us can do is to live our best life, and to achieve our goals, hopefully without wanting to hurt anyone or anything.

But at that point, once you're dead, what difference does it really make? (serious question)

It doesn't take long for the dead to become a fleeting afterthought in the day to day lives of those that survive them, even those closest to us, no matter what it was you did, who you were, or the magnitude of your accomplishments in life. If you think differently, you're only lying to yourself.

To me, what people think of you after death pales in comparison to what they think of you while you're alive (for those people that actually matter). Personally I strive each and every day to earn the love, respect and trust of my immediate family and close friends, and to make as big a positive impact in their lives now as I can knowing I will be largely forgotten once dead, and can no longer contribute to their happiness as I currently do, while their lives continue to expand. That is the life legacy that is important to me. What the wider pool might believe my legacy to be once I'm gone is, frankly speaking, inconsequential and a moot point at best.

Beyond that, in all honestly, I really don't give a shit what other people think.

Never believe anything a woman tells you when she is happy, in love or mad.

Doesn't leave much for anything else.

in this society if you are a single man it will be assumed that something is wrong with you.

Very few people are willing to take responsibility for their actions; someone else is always to blame.
