What Is "Fun"

Yes indeed, another strange question from the resident loser.

What is "fun"?

With my birthday coming up (I am a Virgo), I was asking in chat for suggestions. I wasn't really getting many responses until I was told to "try to remember doing something fun, and do it again."

Problem is thanks to my mental health issues, I can't remember a whole lot of fun. Most of what I do is so laced with self doubt, self criticism, and guilty, the life is drawn right out of it

So what I'm hoping for is some suggestion as to what is fun, be it a definition or an action, or just something to do for my Bdsy

And before some one says sex...The cymbalta has done a fine job of disabling my sex drve. And the welbutine hasn't started to counter act it.

Thanks
Dave

I'm thinking going to a comedy show. We're social creatures, and tend towards herd mentality. If people around you are laughing, even if you initially aren't getting into the act, you'll start enjoying it as well.

I remember going through something similar to you a few years ago. Aside from therapy and happy pills, I started "forcing" myself to be happy by going back and doing the things that gave me pleasure in the past, as well as being more social. I didn't want to, but just like that jog or trip to the gym, I knew it would make me healthier.

You're only a loser because you've chosen to label yourself as one. It's tiresome.

SLIM...
we need to talk.

though i fully understand the reality of depression ( believe me hun, I DO )
every day is a gift .

you KNOW i love you '' slim '' but really sweety

fun for me these days ??

-- being able to walk to the corner store without people' thinking i am high or drunk
-- being able to take a drink from a cup of coffee without spilling it all over myself
-- not poking myself in the eyes, when i was only trying to scratch my forhead
-- or just being able to walk from one room to another without almost falling or banging into the door frame / wall .

please understand...In no way... am i trying to belittle your issues Dave , i for one know what depression and brain disorders can do to ones life, and the life of people close to you,
but please...please stop spreading negative thoughts sweet man.

PMA - possitive mental attitude

I believe i will attempt to walk down to see the Falls this afternoon.
If only i didn't have to wear my medic alert stuff and carry DR's letters with me to do it.
just in case cops stop me and bug me about being drunk in public
now THAT WOULD BE FUN :great:

Auggie has a point Dave. You have to teach your brain all over again that you are great. Do it dude with positive thoughts. Try it, will work :great:.

Fun is whatever you make it, positive or negative, all depends on how you think or who you are. Fun for one person may not be for another eg. hunting for some is fun for others not.

Fun is what you want it to be. Fun can be sitting all alone and enjoying the beauty of oneself or in a group laughing and talking about Buddha.

You know your fun, you can feel your fun and you can see your fun but it is your choice of the kind of fun you want.

Happy future birthday Dave. So, have you decided?.

I probably won't do any thing. If the weather cooperates, I might wash and wax the car. Somewhere between a work out, guitar lessons, and who knows what else will pop up.

You know your fun, you can feel your fun and you can see your fun but it is your choice of the kind of fun you want.
I think I have honestly forgotten what fun is. So much of what I used to find fun, I just walked away from. Painting, converting, sculpting, drawing, gaming...

I should really apologize for starting this thread. I find two times of year to be very bad for triggering my depression....XMas and my birthday, and as mentioned the latter is fastly approaching. Add in I'm at my worst in the evening when I'm tired....Just makes for very moody posting.

All of life if you make it can be a trigger of depression. I feel the same about holidays and sometimes when I am in pain and no amount of legal drugs can help but you breath and find somebody anybody, like you are doing now.

I don't know what you go through but I know for myself helping others who are having a hard time makes me realize things. Also focus on positive thinking, watching comedy or even having an escort to cry on.LOL There is always a way IF YOU WANT HELP. You need to take the first step and you did by reaching out. Now that is FUN:kiss:

I believe that positive thinking works, writing about your depression reinforces negative feelings.

I hope you have a good birthday, you've worked hard to get more fit and healthier and you deserve a special day to commemorate your accomplishments.
