What is the difference between a MRI and CT Scan

I've been on the receiving end of several of both types of tests. CT scan, they feed you into a giant doughnut with a spinny light in it. MRI, they load you into a round coffin....Fortunately for me it was feet first since they were examining my legs.

MRIs are certainly loud though, as they put a set of ear muffs on for the tests. And they are long, as I fell asleep all three times.

It so expensive but if it saves lives what the heck.
