There's a vast difference between hillbillies and rednecks. Hillbillies take great offense at being confused with a redneck...just saying. For me it's not actions that I find off-putting but the attitude behind it. I don't get offended per say, it's more of a reality/awareness check; something tingles and I take notice. Dealing with people who aren't engaged, the ones who do their jobs thru sheer muscle memory and are a million miles away mentally always catch my attention. Another is sarcastic undertones, it makes me wonder where the jaded shades came from. I also find people who get offended supremely annoying if that makes any sense. It doesn't to me so I pull it apart every time I feel it happening and peek inside myself at my own judgement so I can at some point understand and it will stop happening...

Just don't know how being transgendered would work in combat.
Hormone replacement would be a must and not sure how viable that be on a day to day basis where they would be deployed.
Also this is fairly new concept in today's age and I'm not sure how accepted they would be by their comrades in arms. Which is crucial in the efficiency in wartime engagements.

Having lived amongst Rednecks and had regular interaction with Hillbillies; there is a huge difference between them. I know the terms are used interchangeably but there really is no comparing, so here's a little fun personal insight that I gathered from my time in the South. I believe the rednecks put Trump in, not the Hillbillies...
Genuine Hillbillies don't participate in politics, any and all government isn't to be trusted and they have always lived on the farthest fringes possible to avoid the government. They have a unique wisdom and awareness; are a people of the land that avoid living in society when at all possible. They love their land, their way of life and their history and aren't typically welcoming of strangers unless you're just passing thru and stop to buy gas/eat/shop in their little neck of the world. But don't try to stay, it will take a couple of generations before they even consider accepting you into their community. They know their history, most of them have been in mountains since before the Civil War as they felt the government was too invasive back then so headed to remote places to live in peace and in nature. They are protectors of nature, gifted in the natural healing arts, talented artists, craftsmen, hunters and living off the land in a sustainable way is their chief mandate. They've opposed the mining, deforestation and raping of the mountains since they migrated up into the hills and still do. They have their ways and are not prone to change and look at the rest of American society as people who are just not "right in the head". As an aside, they tip in very creative ways. Like cooked food (won't tell you whats in it till you've tried it) and home made liquor. They are excellent clients and I found them to be delightful people, tho sometimes a little challenging to understand. The accents and colloquialisms are difficult to the untrained ear. They consider being called Redneck an insult.
Real Rednecks on the other hand are the typical ignorant uniformed but highly opinionated American. They used to be seen only in the South but the attitude has presented nationwide so it's not a simple Southern thing. They lack the ability to see past their front door and are proud of their simplified view of this complex world. They are the over indulging mass consumers who have no concern about the wide range, long term impact of their behaviors or attitude; their self involved, privileged, narcissistic way of life is their only perception of how to live. One on one they can be tolerable and there is a wide spectrum of Redneck; from the truly unsalvageable to those who simply need exposure to a different perspective one on one. Rednecks seldom change from media exposure, they need to meet the situation face to face for their inner righteousness to shift and if the exposure isn't consistent they will slip back into their old belief systems. Rednecks don't tip, act like an SP is a pizza and their truck is usually worth more than their trailer. Easier to understand but most of what they say isn't worth hearing.
Hicks on the other had is a slight blend of the two. They have land skills but it's developed from living in poverty, not from a reverence of nature and lack the wisdom that should come from it. They aspire to be a redneck but haven't the education or the work ethic to achieve any kind of financial stability. Hicks are never clients.
