What TV show do you watch and enjoy, but you wouldn't want to admit it?
For me, Friendzone on MTV.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friendzone_(MTV_series)
They have two segments on each show. In every segment, there are two people who have been best friends forever, and one of them wants to be more than friends. The one that wants to be more than friends gets his/ her friend to help him/ her plan a date with someone else, and at the last minute, he/she tells him/her that the date is for him/ her, and the planner declares their hidden romantic feelings for the long term friend. Sometimes the friends are the same gender.
The segment usually ends in one of two ways:
a) The friend says 'what took you so long?', and they finally become a couple.
b) The friend is grossed out by the idea, and the friendship effectively ends.
I guess they have to find people who've never seen the show before, otherwise the premise and the camera crew following them around would tip them off.
Sometimes the 'asking friend' is gay or lesbian, and it's pretty awkward, when the other one isn't. Imagine if your best same gender friend for years suddenly declared on TV that they wanted to go down on you, and you were heterosexual. Some of the heterosexual guys here have already been on this show, but without the camera crew.
It's heart warming to see a guy finally grow a pair, and start dating the girl he should have been going out with for years, if he hadn't chosen the safety net.
You've also got to have props for the person who gets shot down, and loses the person who mattered most to them, because they weren't satisfied with the status quo.
Back in the day, we used to call that the third date, where you found out where you stood, and moved on, if the feelings weren't mutual, and you got to at least third base, if they were, without waiting years to make the decision to go for it. This is way better than the other high stakes poker games on the sports channels at the same time of night.
