Why can't they leave me alone?

I don't mind the stat holidays. Seeing as most of them are Mondays, coupled with my Sundays and Tuesdays off, I get a nice 3 day 'weekend', which is good enough for me. By Wens, I'm ready to go back to work.

ok, I've given you the benefit of the doubt with your posts here but enough's enough..

For fucks sake, you're whining about vacation time now? Dick.....how about us that get only 1 week and we starve for that week....how about people who don't get more than a week and work their ass off for a fricken YEAR....

If you like long weekends so much, do what I did the last time I had more than a week: take a long weekend for 21 weekends....

I mean dude, if you're whining about being forced to take vacation days maybe you should quit your job and go find one that won't give you any.....

Jesus dude, get a grip.....

The Jesus dude will get a grip once he finds an appropriate video on youjizz.

You know I'm not boohooing that I get three weeks off. What's bugging me is that they can't get that I don't want or need that time off. Add in my previous history of not using it... I'm just finding it irritating that my employers keep getting on me about it.

And yes, t, I have worked sans holidays as well, and it was no big deal to me.

Also recall its approach the one year mark since my return to work. So yeah, been there done that.

sorry dude, but you coming on here complaining that they're making you take the vacation time you're due IS boohooing about it.....

So if you don't want to take the time because "you have nothing to do" why not take the time, and volunteer somewhere? Hospitals always need volunteers, animal shelters, and hey, you could go feed the homeless........

This thread kind of reminds me that the old saying is true: no matter how good you have it, some will always find something to complain about......

and, no offence, but I think, and I bet your HR dept does to, there is something seriously wrong with someone who doesn't want to take their alloted vacation time......seriously, IMO this is like someone getting a job at a company that offers free supplemental healthcare and the employee saying "thanks but no thanks"....or a homeless person having a kind hearted soul buy them a big mac meal and them refusing because they have to watch their cholesteral.....

I mean, you're fucking complaining because your employer wants to PAY you to sit at home......really? REALLY?

Dude, for the last time, if you can't find ANYTHING to do on your time off, there's something seriously wrong with you......no to be insulting...but there is....at any given moment I have a todo list that is weeks long.......

If we were co-workers Dave I'd do right by you and take your holidays for you after all what are friends for!

Nah, I don't do shit like that. In part because I used to volunteer, until I realize that you give them an inch, they want you to give them a mile. Plus, I quit getting the warm fuzzy feeling of helping others, and instead felt resentment at being expected to bust my ass for nothing, not even a smile or a thank you. Besides, they want more than a week.

First off, I don't care what the HR department thinks. As far as I'm concerned HR is just another term for 'people' or 'the neighbors' or what ever faceless group you mustn't upset. (I mean what would the neighbors think?) Second, what other people think is none of my business. It's their problem that I don't want to take time off. I have no problem there, my problem is their nagging me to take it. And are you telling me that there's something seriously wrong with someone when they enjoy coming to work? Or maybe it's the other way around?

So you're saying because I'm covered for new glasses every two years I should get new glasses every second year, even if I don't need or want them? See I'm a silly person like that. If I don't want or need something, even if it's offered, I'll generally refuse it. The concept seems to confuse a lot of people.

I mean, you're fucking complaining because your employer wants to PAY you to sit at home......really? REALLY?

No, I'm actually complaining that a) they are most insistent (read nagging) that I take it, and b) they choose not to respect my decision no to use them.

Dude, for the last time, if you can't find ANYTHING to do on your time off, there's something seriously wrong with you......no to be insulting...but there is....at any given moment I have a todo list that is weeks long.......

Or maybe I'm just that much more organized. I mean I do typically make the following day's meals the previous night, while doing laundry and planning the next day's work out. But then again, I typically only plan a few days in advance.

Hey, I've jokingly offered them as well.

dude, I'm not berating you or anything because you like to go to work, I'm bugging you because you don't want to take time off from work....that right there indicates something seriously wrong......seriously........

I used to think like you, work work work and know what? that's why (for the most part) I'm single and have no kids at 51......wasted so much of my life working.

Comparing glasses to vacation is ludicrous......one is a product one is TIME........holy crap, you mean to tell me you only ever ever ever get things you NEED? So you never buy beer? never buy a steak? never rent a movie? never watch TV? And for the record, the reason they want you to take your time off is because studies have shown that people are more productive after a vacation...even if it's just lazing around the house....NO one can work 8 hrs a day 5 days a week, every week and be as productive as they were after say a long weekend......or rest. That's why legislature was brought in to limit work weeks to 5 days or 40 hrs...

Anyhow, without being mean, there is something seriously wrong with you if you don't want to take the time off...I mean, I could probably kind of understand it if you were getting paid for the vacation whether you took it or not (ie: got paid for an extra 3 weeks instead of taking the time off) but since you've said you lose them if you don't take them....well, that's it then.......

I tell you what, why don't you find a job at a place where they only give you 1 week's vacation? Then your headaches will be over. Or better yet, find a place that gives you NO time off, then you'd be happy...wait, no you wouldn't because you'd probably come in here complaining that you need some vacay time and can't take it......

No wonder whY I am single....I work way too often. I really need to slow down.
