''This 19 year old Shep being cradled in his father's arms last night in Lake Superior. Shep falls asleep every night when he is carried into the lake. The buoyancy of the water soothes his arthritic bones. Lake Superior is very warm right now, so the temp of the water is perfect.
I was so happy I got to capture this moment for John. By the way, John rescued Shep as an 8 month old puppy, and he's been by his side through many adventures''

TOKYO—Dozens of Japanese train passengers pushed a 32-ton train carriage away from the platform to free a woman who had fallen into the 20-centimetre gap between the train and platform. The act of heroism was captured by a newspaper photographer.

A public announcement that a passenger was trapped prompted about 40 people to join train officials to push the carriage, whose suspension system allows it to lean to either side, the Yomiuri newspaper reported.

The unnamed woman in her 30s was then pulled out uninjured to applause from onlookers at JR Minami-Urawa station, just north of Tokyo.

After just an eight-minute delay, the train went on its way.

ALIQUIPPA (KDKA) – Police say a Beaver County woman may have thwarted a robbery, by running over a suspect with her car.
It happened in the 2100 block of McMinn Street in Aliquippa.

Aliquippa police say a witness saw Cameron White walking down a street carrying what appeared to be a sawed off shotgun.
She called police, but noticed that White was heading in the direction of a group of children.

Police say she feared White was going to shoot the children, so she ran over him with her car.
White was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe he was actually going to rob the Circle K mini-mart down the road and that she may have prevented the robbery.
They say White was carrying an airsoft pellet gun which had been sawed off to look like a shotgun, and the orange tip had been taken off.

The Beaver County District Attorney says they are not going to charge her with running White over.

Burglars return charity’s stolen computers with apology note

Thieves apologize for stealing computer equipment from the San Bernardino Sexual Assault Services office.

A group of burglars in California gave their crime a second thought this week, choosing compassion over the computers they stole from a sexual assault services office.

NBC reported anonymous thieves broke in through the roof and stole several computers from the San Bernardino Sexual Assault Services office overnight on July 31.

Director Candy Stallings told KABC Los Angeles she was "devastated," by the theft at the office, which runs a crisis hotline, counseling and other services for victims of sexual violence.

Police began to investigate the burglary, but the next morning, all of the stolen items were back outside the front door, along with a note tucked into a laptop.

"We had no idea what we were takeing. Here your stuff back we hope that you guys can continue to make a difference in people's live [sic]. God Bless," the note said.

A police officer told NBC News it was the first time he had ever seen stolen items returned.
