Why is there a need for a lobby section here?

Way back before texting, Twitter and other social media platforms became tools of the trade, the Lobby was the place to hang out, flirt and fight with others in the industry.

Those of us who aren't active on Twitter and other social media still enjoy hanging out, flirting and fighting here.
