With the holidays fast upon us, and Black Friday looming large, what's your budget for holiday gifts? Will you spoil those family/friends closest to you, or will you scale back on gift giving this year?

Nephews and friends that have young kids. Giving adults gifts make zero sense, they can buy whatever they want. My budget is at $500 now but always exceed it.

I spoil my kids throughout the year, so by xmas - they basically get one gift they really want.

Only because I have paid for trips, computers, phones, paid bills, etc for them throughout the year. They are adults too so they understand. They would rather my charity throughout the year instead of just on xmas.

For friends, we limit ourselves. My other family is usually a card.

I don't really celebrate xmas in that sense. We all just like to be able to get together and share time because that is so rare throughout the year with busy schedules and such.

Exactly the same for me as what Jessica posted above, for close close friends I may pick up something small and personal throughout the year for them but the majority of my xmas expenses go to getting the kids (also adults now) one big gift, and I still do stockings up for them with various small necessities. With exception to my Dad and Mom, the rest of the family get cards, usually with lottery tickets or scratch and wins, and if it's a really good year they may include gift cards. Since I don't really celebrate in any traditional sense I don't tend to buy for people I am not close to. I don't tend to buy for clients as most of mine have SOs they'd have to answer to, one year I got some generic hersheys kisses but even had complaints that those were difficult to explain away lol. The following year I just held a special rate for the weeks surrounding xmas. Haven't given it much thought yet this year but will probably do that again.

Mmm, I did enjoy that Hershey's Kiss Jacklyn. I ate mine at work so I didn't have to explain anything to anyone. Lol!

Due to a health issue in the immediate family, last Christmas was pretty bleak at my house. I hope we can make up for it a little this year. Really though, we already have everything we want so it becomes more and more difficult to get something we "need". You do have to get thoughtful and creative though, so the challenge is on!
