This is a bito Love thread. No condescension pretty please. Only cuddles and tummy rubs. :dontknow:

Sweet! :good:

Do we have any songs that would suit a bobistheowl love-in?

At 55 seconds, it looks like a teenage Shirley MacLaine in the audience.

Bob and I have chatted in PM's ever since I was new here. He's an intelligent, kind and generous person and has made me feel very welcome. I always look forward to his threads and replies whenever he finds the time to contribute!

Every forum needs a bobistheowl in the mix.
Keep on chooglin. Funky & Music

Amy's conniving scheme is to get a TV trivia resurrection, I bet.

Hmmmmmm

LOL Jasper, you're incorrigible :)

My "conniving scheme" was to turn a frown upside down. I wonder if it worked.

Your new avatar certainly made me smile. :biggrin2:

Thanks, folks. To quote Ron Nasty from The Rutles in All You Need is Cash, "I haven't been staying away as much as just not coming here"

HUBGFE is a diversion for me. I post here when I don't have more important things to do. In the past few days, I've had more important things to do.

I've been neglecting some work that needs to be done, before I have play time again. I'll need to work on those things for a few more days, before I have the free time to play.

It's that simple. There isn't enough time for me to do everything right now, but there might be enough time to do everything except post on HUBGFE for a few more days.

The nature of my work is that I have to complete all of the work before I get paid for any of it, and then I'm paid a lot, without having to do more work for a while. Playing before completing the work just delays my having the cash available to play for real.

I've given this board more than enough of my time in the past three months, (that's how long I've been here), and I have other things more important to me than Internet forums to occupy my time at the moment.

I'll be in and out of here for probably the next ten days or so, probably late at night, when I've completed my work for that day, but I don't want to sleep. The rest of you will just have to make do with each other.

Anybody who is seriously 'jonzing for a bobistheowl fix' can always search my past posts. I'm sure there are some interesting things I said that people missed, because I wrote too much in one post. A lot of Ask bobistheowl! is worth a second look, and the thread called I Don't Get It, at least the first part anyway, is really good, if you get it.

I explained the I don't get it thread somewhere else, possibly in 'the pork room', but more than 500 posts ago, so you can't find it by searching the history in my profile; that doesn't go back far enough.

I'll be making a database of my better posts, because I'll be having a thread on my 'dark net fonts forum' of "The best of bobistheowl from other forums". I only have 182 posts there since October, 2008, and most of it is serious, technical stuff. The only people there who know my funny side are the ones I correspond with by private message.

The private messages there have no character limit, and I frequently send and receive PMs longer than the long posts I make here.

The chief administrator there and I go back further, to another board that had a lot of drivel, in addition to the file sharing. She formed the board I'm on now, along with the major contributors, and invited certain members to come from that board to the new one, and the other people were left with that other board, but with little ongoing participation from the people who had been providing most of the content.

The 'dark net fonts forum' is mostly for sharing graphic design materials privately, by temporary links that often disappear in a few days, until someone puts them up somewhere else. Each type of activity is in a separate sub forum, and the place is impeccably well organized; the mods there spend a lot of time moving posts from one thread to another, if they were posted in the wrong thread. It's designed for busy people to know exactly where to look for something they want, when they don't have a lot of time to spend on a message board.

My 'best of bobistheowl' thread will be a diversion, for people who just want something of substance to read, when they aren't working, or when they just want to be entertained, instead of working. In other words, the same reasons why I write that here, except over there, I do all of my flirting by private message. I'm not likely to book a session with one of my friends that lives in Sweden; especially not Sweden, that's where the 'Nordic Model' of prostitution laws came from.

My 'font friends' probably aren't much to look at, either, so it's mainly just 'intellectual flirting', except with the university professor from Arizona, who's the biggest fan of my typography. She uses too many emoticons in her PMs, in my opinion, but she did give me some good design suggestions, that prompted me to make some radical changes, that made my font a whole lot better. I didn't use her suggestions, but they got me thinking about ways that I could improve the font, in the areas she considered to be in need of improvement. The fonts she makes herself are decent, but fairly standard, so she likes my stuff, because it's completely different from what anybody else is doing.

It's a completely different atmosphere there. I wish I had more time for that board, but most of my time for fonts is spent making them, and I have almost no time to collect them anymore.

That board has minimum sharing rules, and the only thing I have to share with them is my own original work, but the administrator I know from before assured me that the minimum participation requirement would not be applied to my account, and she gave me 100 spots in my PM box there, instead of the standard 25. She's a great old gal from Scotland.

Most of my best long term Internet friends are spread out all over the world, so we don't have much 'real time' interaction. We post a large amount of information in one message, and somebody reads it and responds, often days later. This kind of board, where people are sending each other 'tweet length' messages, looking for immediate replies, is foreign to me. That's not the way I usually communicate with people in person, or on the Internet. I'm not interested in changing my methods, to conform to what other people do. That's their business, but it's not mine.

A simple "Amy's avatar gives me wood" would have sufficed bob.

Nice post Amy! :good:

What kind of font would be designed for Amy?
I'm inclined to think sans serif, but maybe not.
Something shy but friendly with nice curves and a sweet giggle.

You'd have to create one Jasper.

I'd call it BouncyPop and it would have a curvy appearance with a contemporary flare with just a slight HINT of irony.

Something like this comes to mind.....
