Another fucker in Douglas County
DOUGLAS COUNTY -- A stuffed animal placed at the scene of a shooting in Douglas County is a grim reminder that the youngest victim was only 7 years old.
Seven people -- adults and children -- were found shot Saturday afternoon inside and outside a house in the 3600 block of Willow Tree Circle.
"It tears at your heart. It doesn't make any sense," said Lt. Glenn Daniel of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department.
Some of the victims died at the scene, while others died on the way to a local hospital. Two juveniles are currently being treated at the hospital.
The shooter, an adult male, was found injured and was also transported to a hospital, where he later died of self-inflicted wounds.
Investigators are not releasing the relationship of the shooter to the victims, but neighbors say he was the estranged husband of the woman who
lived in the home with their five children and her boyfriend.
Police were called to the house in the Amber Forest subdivision at around 3 p.m. Saturday. It was a chaotic scene. Some neighbors close by tried to help. They said at one point, five or six ambulances were lined up.
"Inside the home, I could see the wife was on the floor and a man was still moving," said neighbor Andrews Ansah.
Ansah says the youngest children in the home, a 7 and 8 year old, were always playing with his own children.
"We just had the little girl and boy over yesterday. My son and daughter are their same ages," said Ansah
Investigators say the shooter purposely parked his car up the hill away from the home, walked up to it and started shooting. His car was later towed away as a piece of evidence.
Authorities have not released their names because family members have not yet been notified.
