Are People Born Gay?

I knew i was straight at a very young age, a few days after I was born I fooled around with a few of the baby girls that were born around the same time. I remeber leaving the hospital with my parents and the girls were giving me their numbers, wanting to hang out and shit.

I was having none of it, I wanted to see the other babies in the hood, no way I was gonna be tied down.

I do know what my niece experienced growing up. She was confused about her identity and never really accepted into the peer groups while in elementary and high school. She is THE sweetest, kindest, most sympathetic person I have ever met.
She struggled to conform with the heterosexual model, and she was never able to reconcile this to her feelings. In college she arrived at the acceptance that she was gay. This was not her deciding to be gay or choosing to be gay, she was understanding that she was gay. All her confusion prior to this is at peace now, and deservedly so.

This pretty wells sums it up nicely as far as the curiosity/desire/choice question.

Those early hospital bunkhouse situation can cause difficulties; so I've read.

Let me ask you point blank BR, would you then consider homosexuality "normal"? I agree that it is acceptable but is it normal?

Point away.

Normal is a word I won't/can't use because it's such an amorphic term. It changes with a society's/community's opinions of the day and can't be properly applied here. Natural, yes.

Other than used to establish a norm, when speaking statistically, or to identify what is common, the word normal is usually applied in an ethnocentric way, and in this case, it is being used in a heterocentric manner. It's not always intentional, but believing that your culture, your way of living, your sexual identity, etc. is "normal" is leaving others who have a different culture, way of living, or in this case, sexual identity as being "abnormal." Is homosexuality uncommon? No. So, to ask if homosexuality is normal is the same as asking if it is natural. That, right there, is a much more loaded question.

Well put and I think it now a case of parsing words to the nth degree. I just try, for many of the reasons you outlined, not to use normal for some situations and this is one of them.

Sex is instinctual. Sex is normal. Sexual preference is just that, an individual's preference. I happen to like women only and that is my preference, another man's preference is his choice. There is nothing normal or abnormal about it.

Except when some people's definition of sex goes beyond certain boundaries not deemed proper. Note I didn't say normal.

You are worse than the men here always trying to hit on the ladies.

I believe there is something in the brain that's wired a little different between gay and straight people. My theory is a simple one but the question was asked and that's my belief.

I don't care why someone is gay! Live and let live I say. As long as it's not hurting anyone, do whatever you like, it's a free society.

It may be simple but not far off at all.
