They sued and won against Samsung's Android version. Now they are in total control of the market! I'm do for an upgrade in December and was going Android but now it will have to be a the iphone 5.

I don't get the big fuzz about it. Who needs all those gadgets on their mobile ?

I look at this and think iphone4SS or iphone4S+

Regarding my consumer-side, I dread Apple becoming more prevalent; it stifles competition and innovation while providing tangible excuses for price gauging to be the norm.

Regarding my business-side, I'm just amazed at how well Apple has marketed itself as well as continuing to build the brand.

It looks like the Chinese are hooked with Apple fever as well (just look at the tablet market share in China...).
Apple no longer needs mindless hipsters with China feeding them :clapping2:

It is not a phone, it is a computer with a phone.

Blackberry phones can do the same for $200 less.

No they cannot. I had a Blackberry before this and I will NEVER go back. Blackberry has next to no useful applications, a screen 1/3 the size, and might not even be around in 3 years. The difference is night and day.

And a Civic would get me from home to work just as well as a 335i would, for $30K cheaper.

I get your point. Being a user of both platforms, I disagree that they are equally functional, or that BB apps are as good.

Also, if you compare similar products, like the Bold or Torch to the Iphone, the prices are about the same.

The new Bold that I now have navigates as fast as the Iphone and also has touch screen access and all the toys. Oh well guys we all have different tastes which is cool.

I'm also a user of both platforms and when it comes to the apps or your one that likes many features there really is no comparison. I can only imagine the power and features the Iphone 5 will have plus a bigger screen will really make it more like a computer with a phone.

Simply put

Free shit, that requires some know-how / workable knowledge = Android
Paid shit, that is user-friendly and intuitive requiring no know-how = iOS

Easiest way is to give your parents and two 4 year olds both platforms and see which one they like better.
I've done it, and they tend to lean towards iOS.

How much knowledge and know how is needed to work an Android phone? I'm no techie, but I can do the basics. Im more concerned about integration. I like the convenience of having my phone and tablet on the same platform.

Very true about 'rents and kids being the litmus test. Given a choice, my kid will always go for the iphone rather than my bold; he doesn't even bother with the playbook. LOL.

Big disappointment.

I agree. iphone5S is not a leap forward in technology. They just upgraded the features. If people with the iphone4S wait later this month they can upgrade their platform for free and get many of the same features except for those that are contingent on the new resolution.

I'm sorry but as a Blackberry user I've compared both the Galaxy and iphone together and the Galaxy is far more useful and powerful than the iphone. Apples greatest advantage is fan loyalty that have people coming back for more regardless of what they put out. Great marketing to say the least.[/quote]

Again that's marketing at work. Kids don't realize what they're getting other than the "label." They want iphones because they are the latest fad and gimmick not because they're the best product on the market. The same can be said for all products at one time or another. It's actually quite fascinating.

Not likely. He's only 16 months. LOL
