Blackberry vs Ipod

(Reuters) - Apple Inc's shares fell by as much as 12 percent on Thursday, staging their biggest percentage drop in over four years and slicing more than $50 billion from the company's market value, as disappointing holiday-period iPhone sales reinforced fears it is losing its dominance in smartphones.

A combo of Samsung putting out a good product in the Galaxy S3 plus he poor move with the iPad Mini has caused the downfall. There were so much expectation with the Mini, supposedly allowing Apple to compete and wipe out competitors like the Kindle. However their arrogance in thinking that people will flock to buy it made them price it at a braket where it made absolutely no sense. Usually for $50 or so I can get the regular iPad which have better specs. The whole idea of the Mini was to be similar in price point as other small tablets and eReaders while providing a superior product. The Mini did not deliver at all.

Such is often the issue with companies who has majority of market share. Instead of thinking of how to be thankful for the support and continue to offer products that the public will continue to consume, they get arrogant and think that people will just continue to buy whatever is put out there - even if it is a lesser product. At the same time, people who are trying to gain the market are providing with similar if not better alternatives. If they don't smarten up 12% drop will be the least of their worries...

iPhone Issues

iPhone Issues

I got an iPhone in February so that I could finally be web enabled and able to post, etc. no matter where I am.

Everything was going "hunky dory" until this past weekend.

I originally noticed that when I cut and paste a previous/past post using my cell, it would put additional spaces. No biggie as I could easily edit them out. However, this past weekend, anytime I tried to edit something using my cell it would squish the text all together, making it practically illegible. Now when I try to edit anything using my cell, the place where the text should be, allowing me to edit it is completely blank, making it impossible to update my availability throughout the day, unless I'm either at the incall/home using my PC, by tethering it to my cell via a hotspot, allowing me to connect my PC to Wi-Fi, defeating the whole purpose of going out and getting a web enabled cell phone. I locked myself into plan in order to do this and now I can't do anything while mobile.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so how can it be corrected?

well you have entered into an agreement with a cult, with the apple phone.

You might want to head to the Temple of Apple at the local mall and seek enlightenment.

Doesn't Apple have a website that may be able to help you or maybe call them.

Good luck.

Of course Apple has a website for iPhone support:
https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/
There's also a helpline: 1 (800) 263-3394

You should also be able to get immediate support from your cell phone service provider. If you bought your iPhone from Rogers, for example, you simply call them for tech support.

In both cases call from a landline so you can reset your iPhone while talking to the help desk.

But before making any calls, power down your iPhone and restart it. Many people never turn their phones off, they just plug them into the charger at night and grab them and run next morning.

Always good to give your computer a rest. Shut it down, even for just a minute, and restart it. That gets rid of miscellaneous memory overload that can confuse the circuits. When it restarts it will refresh proper connections and protocols.

Good luck.

Although pointing the fair lady to Apple support is slightly more helpful than telling her to "go Blackberry" or that she's in a cult, I hardly think it solves her problem.

Sophia: Some web applications don't translate well across a mobile platform, and some are cut off if you're connecting through a cellular connection. I know posting here for me is hit and miss, but I have a 2 year old Blackberry. I figured iPhones wouldn't have that issue since their browsers are pretty damn good.
plug your phone into iTunes and see if there aren't any updates you need to do. That may fix it. (remember to backup beforehand)

Failing that, 2 things you can try:
-Check out the App Store for Opera or Firefox browsers, try logging in from there
-If you can connect through wifi at home, you can connect through any wifi. Just connect to the nearest hotel/starbucks and make the changes then.

For what it's worth I've encountered the same issue on my Blackberry from certain web sites and not others.

I had to update my iPhone 3 days ago. Try to avoid plugging it into iTunes and just update using the onboard updater.

Settings > General > Software Update

Also check in the App store if you need your browser updated, assuming you use Google Chrome, which has less problems than Safari.

Everytime I create an ad, I type it first into Notepad so that I have the spacing etc how I want it before copying and pasting it into this forum's editor.

Google Chrome has a mobile version that can be downloaded from the App Store. I prefer using it over the Safari browser.

You might say that. :-Cool/"

Amy: Either updating over the air or through iTunes, makes no real difference. I prefer the old fashion way because there's less chance of a corrupt download.

Now that is funny! So true.

Lucky for me, I've never had issues with over the air. Plugging it in has had several handfuls of catastrophic occurrences. :dontknow:

I'll try the google Chrome. If you are using Safari on the iPhone go to setting and turn off Java Script so you will be able to post.

Thank you for all the feedback Miss Amy and Gents.!

I went to the Apple Store today (yes Papa I sought enlightenment), seeing as one is close to where my car is being looked at as I need her ready for the Emission Test this month. [upcoming B-Day hint ;)]

The solution to the problem was to go into Settings, then General, then Reset and finally to Reset Network Settings. I thought I should share this in case anyone else encounters this problem with their iPhone 4.

Art Mann,
I believe that doing this is in effect doing part of what you suggested "Always good to give your computer a rest. Shut it down, even for just a minute, and restart it. That gets rid of miscellaneous memory overload that can confuse the circuits. When it restarts it will refresh proper connections and protocols."
