Cancellation Fees - Cool or Not Cool?

There is a growing trend among the independent SP community to levy cancellation fees against clients who book, but flake on the apt.

In fairness, as part of my research, most if not all the providers I found for whom this rule is in effect clearly state this stipulation up front on their public sites, so guys can't really cry foul if they miss it by not fully reading the site content.

My question is this: Would you book with a service provider if a cancellation fee would apply should you not be able to attend the session for some unforeseen reason? Are they really enforceable? What happens when she needs to cancel last minute?

I treat it more of a business. If I don't show up for my restaurant reservation, I should be charged a fee. If I don't show up for a dentist appointment, I should be charged. But they don't charge because they don't want a bad reputation sign hanging on their door. But get ready to be blacklisted. Plus it's not enforceable or legal to charge in Canada.

If she needs to cancel last minute?. That is also fine because things happen. But if she is notorious for doing this then her business will suffer. Reviews and review boards is a godsend.

I've never been charged a cancellation fee. And I've had way way more SP's flake on me than I can count.
once I couldn't make an appt for a much anticipated duo. I got stuck in a traffic jam for a fatal accident on 401 for over an hour and the girls couldn't wait. No charge, saw them not later, separately.
i cancelled an agency appt a couple hours ahead once. One of my favs needed a ride.
You wouldnt believe some of the silly excuses I've heard for SP's cancelling, sometimes last minute. But the ones who piss me off are the ones who ghost. I show up as planned and confirmed, but never get an answer. Sometimes they just fell asleep, some passed out. One I know checked out of the hotel before I got there. One went out to party with another sp with coke.
Yes, I would pay a cancellation fee if I had to cancel last minute for something that was my fault.

I've tried charging cancellation fees in the past. Sometimes men have sent the cancellation fee and sometimes it wasnt as successful.
I'm sorry but if one has tried booking with me multiple times and keeps cancelling I think a 50$ cancellation fee is just respectful to do.

I would have alot more respect for them if they did this and appreciate it as well.

$50 sounds more than reasonable. But if another person keeps cancelling on me I would waive the cancellation fee and never see her again.

I dare say if the lady is willing to pay the same fee if she were to cancel then it becomes fair.

I have seen some who ask for an advance deposit.......I am sure some people pay it and others refuse.
Again if there are defined penalties on her part also then it is acceptable.

I've never ever paid cancellation fees but I have always called to cancel if something came up. It's a two way street and both sides at times cancel for whatever reason.

I've been lucky, only had to cancel once and that was with 24 hours notice when I started coming down with a cold.

I would pay a minimal amount if I gave less than 12 hours notice, the full price if it was less than 2 hours.

I would expect nothing if she cancelled, I'd be ticked off then realize I saved $250.

Damn-Not too smart I just have to shake my head at this. Do most men that book and cancel loose income? Do most men that book and cancel loose clients?
Lets face it, we all encounter events from time to time that are impromptu, unplanned, unavoidable, but these are also very seldom. When they happen to an escort, she or he will loose that revenue and the ability to regain it, at least for that day or maybe even that week. Since some indies I know only book 1 client per day, some only a couple a week or month. They also may loose clientele since many men now, seem to want to book asap, within shorter time gaps, and when they can't get that time slot, they move on to someone who'll give it to them. This may result in the initial escort loosing that client for good, since many men seek a regular and once that regular has been found, they stay.
When a man books with an escort and the escort cancels, certainly the client too looses, he looses the opportunity for that date, but he can also call someone else asap, if he chooses, as many of you have said on this board, there are more than enough escorts to choose from......we as escorts don't have that same luxury to simply call another client, as it's poor etiquette to cold call any client.
Certainly some men plan far ahead, make reservations and other plans for some dates, and if they're cancelled on, the cancellation is more than an inconvenience, but too, your date is a choice, not a necessity. Many escorts plan their days/weeks/months, on client schedules/bookings, that income is what pays their bills, it's necessary for their survival, loss of that can't be compared to inconveniencing your "play" time.
Regardless, any escort in this business gets to develop and run their business as they choose. Escorts, set their boundaries, rules and rates, as they choose. The customers either accepts those or moves on to another. So whether or not someone charges a cancellation fee is their business and right, fair or not, and it is the clients right to either accept it or move on. It's that simple:)

I think this may be a gross exaggeration and simplification of the equation from the men's point of view. In the indie world, very few ladies are available for or interested in taking last minute bookings - hence catchphrase "no same day appointments, pre-booking is strongly advised". Also the ever present social media mantra "what, do these guys think we're just sitting, all dolled up, waiting for the phone to ring!?"

In the agency world, yes there may be many girls 'available, on schedule' but that doesn't mean there will always be one that meets your personal tastes or sexual interests, let alone available at a time that works for you. Add in the desire for a duo or foursome and it gets even more complex.

I would move on. I have never flaked or even cancelled on day of an appointment on a sp. Unfortunately I've had them flake on me lots of times. I regard my time as every bit as valuable as theirs.

If you're going to be a SP who charges a cancellation fee, you need to make sure all your business practices are just as professional, that you interact with clients in a more professional manner than the average sex worker, and practice integrity throughout all your business dealings.

I can only speak from my experience and perspective and again as many guys from here have quoted," they're are far to many girls to choose from". If you look around at the advertising sites it does appear that the number of girls willing to accept same day/hour appts, does out number those who specifiy pre-booking. So although you might see my quote as a *gross* exaggeration, others won't. There are many escorts who will *only* pre-book and many who sit around waiting for clients for asap bookings, sometimes the two are the same:wink2: Depends on the day, if truth were to be told by many:)

From the guys I've talked to in the industry, this seems to be the prevalent mindset. I've also heard a common perspective that many SP's believe they are doing the client a favor by seeing them (even though it's a paid service) so if they flake it's no big whoop as in their minds the client was lucky to get an apt. anyway so shouldn't really complain.

For some reason, SP's do not seems to see the situation in the manner which you articulated above.

I think it's smarter to not rebook those who cancel or no call/no show. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Working for an agency this annoys me more when someone books outside of my normal schedule and fails to keep the appointment. I won't go out of my way to accommodate them again since not only the duration of the appointment was wasted time, but also the time getting ready.

I think cancellation fees only work if the client pays it in advance, because a flakey client could easily say that they are going to pay it At the next appointment then not follow through or cancel again.

Well said. I think the agency model differs in this context, as those that regularly use agencies, or at a min the same agency fairly regularly may be easier to identify as habitual offenders. Flake often enough and the agency/lady may blackball you, and even share your contact info with other agencies who may follow suit. Suddenly the flake is on the outside looking in, with little recourse than to pony up either pre-payment or cancellation fees, or both before he's able to book another agency lady.

I'm sorry, and not wanting an argument, but I find this post condescending. I don't know what an "average sex worker" is, or who. Nor can I grasp how one could determine "average".
