Im not crazy about the system but I do feel that the Current Fed govt is the most fiscally responcible of the choices available.

But really, a fiscally responsible government is an oxymoron: There is no such thing.
For eg: the current government paid out millions in severence pay to government employees who changed from processing PST and GST to just HST. Most businesses would simply retrain and go on with business. Our government? Uh uh....their job changed so they were effectively "dismissed" and "re-hired". Some never even changed desks!!!!

But I only said they were the most responcible of the available choices not that they were any way as responcible as a business would have to be to be a success.
The fundamental problem with governments over businesses is that I have to make good decisions or I loose, I cant just raise taxes ie add revenue to cover my mistakes. It seems governments and bureaucracies generally arent very responcible.
Atleast the tories arent paying billions to cancel helicopter programs, without a clear alternative etc and playing politics with lives

I agree of the parties available to us the Federal Tories are probably the better of the 3 but I 'm sorry to say I still prefer to see them with a minority. Mostly because Harper let me down when he supported Premier Dad with the HST and as Tboy mentioned he hasn't been exactly the most fiscally responsible Prime Minister either.
Why can we not have a party that is not so ideologically driven? A common sense party, one that can take the good policies (if any) of all 3 view points (Conservative, Liberal and NDP), mish mash it and come up with some common sense leadership.

Yeah, dream on. A politician with common sense and the balls to speak the truth? Kind of Like Ford in Toronto. He is anything BUT a politician. Only problem with getting someone like O'Bama or Ford into office is their hands are tied by all the other politicians that get in.
Bill Maher said it best the other day (about spending of governments). He said "there are supporters of our missle defence system. Against who? The taliban sure doesn't have ICBMs, Russia is no longer our enemy, China wouldn't attack because destroying 700 walmart would ruin their economy. Why spend the money for something that isn't needed"?
If I were premier or prime minisiter I'd:
1) Automatically abolish the pension for life for past elected officials. This bs about serving 4 yrs and getting paid a full pension for the rest of your life is LUDICROUS
2) Automatically simplify the income tax system: If you make over $500,000.00 per year, you pay 50% tax. EOS. You either pay $250,000.00 in tax, or you hire 10 employees from YOUR salary.
3) Make software developers accountable. I'd make it mandatory that you accept returns of your product should they be found to be either defective or unsatisfactory.
4) Bring back the death penalty to those criminals found to be caught red handed (ie: video evidence)
5) Create a "camp" in northern ontario. In this camp will be shipped the worst of the worst criminals and crack heads. Ie: drive a bus down any street is any city. Pick up ALL the street people. Test them: if they have any meth or crack in their system? Give them a choice: all the crack you want, or rehab. If you opt for the crack? You're shipped to this camp. This camp is one way: no food, no shelter, no escape. (aka gulag).
6) Welfare: you have 1 yr to find a job. If within that year you don't find a job? you're cut off. No longer do you get 3 generations on welfare. I mean, if mentally handicapped people can get jobs, then an able bodied person sure as hell can. (I used to use an organization that had these people do things like package nuts and bolts for "kits".

A common sense party? Isn't that how Mike Harris won the Provincial election some years back? Mind you, he was more conservative minded than the Federal Conservatives.

I am betting that Ford will end up being gobbled up by the political enviroment around him. You can already see the stress on his face when he is being interviewed PLUS WTF are all these new user fees he's bringing in??:grrrrrr:
No new taxes but higher user fees to me is the same thing.
