crtc says big telcos can charge wholesalers per gig...there goes unlimited band width plan

Where's the Competition Bureau when it counts? As others have said, oil/energy, bell, rogers and insurance companies are immune and can charge whatever they like. We're sheep and we should be following the Egyptians lead.

It seems public pressure has reached the Industry Minister's ears. Tony Clement will be reviewing the CRTC's ruling. I guess with a possible election looming the Conservatives aren't taking any chances.

Yes, I saw that too... E-mail sent to Primus Customer Service already! :great:

:)

Amazing what an upcoming election will do when votes are needed. Good news and it's about time. Maybe we should put a petition together against the HST and gas prices too.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when the suits at Bell and Rogers get together for their meeting.

Now CRTC will just delay a decision for 60 days:

You gotta watch out with these sneaky bastards, they might just wait for it to blow over and still hit us with a cap in the spring

I wonder how many kickbacks this fucktard is getting from BELL and Rogers:

Dont think just because we live in wholesome Canada these things dont happen. They do!

Im sure they arent done with us yet, they have to earn the swimming pools that appeared in their backyards right...hmmm how would bell/rogers reposes a swimming pool anyways??

Maybe they are just trying to save face or give bell/rogers a chance to come up with a plan b....

Big business fills deep greedy pockets and tries and charge what the market will bear. Capitalism at it's finest but their timing was terrible with a possible Federal election looming and a guaranteed Provincial election on it's way.

Rogers and Bell aren't done yet. The fear of losing money from cable subscribers pulling the plug as more and more users look to netflix and other internet video streaming sites, the 2 monopolies want to ensure they don't lose cash flow. Plan B will soon be unveiled.

I just got a reply from Primus in response to the e-mail I sent yesterday...

Dear (Cycleguy007),

In light of the CRTC’s recent announcement to review their decision and delay the implementation of Usage Based Billing, Primus will not implement usage caps on our Internet service at this time, pending final direction from the CRTC. In the meantime, Primus is pleased to continue to offer unlimited Internet services to all of our customers.

For customers who purchased and were billed for additional usage plans, credits will be issued. If you have not yet been billed, we will remove the plans from your account.

If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care at 1-800-806-3273.
Thank you for choosing Primus.

Sincerely,
Primus Canada

**keeping fingers crossed that the CRTC drops this ridiculous plan completely!**

I agree with Esco, the CRTC head has his hand in the cookie jar labelled Rogers and Bell.
