Hello fans. Been browsing for a couple of days. Here is my first post.

Been in discussion with my high school son (16 years old) to dress better, to walk straight. Too look at people in the eye during a conversation. Finally he listened to reason (No weekly allowance :he.

You guys want to share any experiences about your kids?. Good or bad.

Well, the title is a little misleading, are you asking about how WE feel or about how we feel about our kids and the way they dress?

Me I care, to the extent that I don't want people to think I'm a rubbie but it is kind of difficult being a contractor. I can't wear nice jeans and then go mud a room, or lay tile....

Good job with the son though. I look around these days and with the pants down around their thighs, sloched over, walking all "gangsta", with the hat sideways.....I see "punk" and think there's the next batch of drug addicts to take over hanging out at the meth clinic.......

My kids have figured it out.

You don't do your chores. You get no money from me.

You don't respect your Mom. You get no money from me.

You don't do well or dress properly. You get no money from me.

Who says money cannot buy love and respect.

I've tried to put it to younger folks this way.

I ask them to picture the same person well dressed and in very casual clothing. I ask them which one they'd rather performed their life-saving surgery...or defended them in court...or sold them a car...ect.

I'm all for being yourself and dressing how you wish. I'm a very casual dresser but in my line of work, that doesn't matter much.

I agree but we also have to realize that every generation has gone through this. I know in the '50s, it was jeans (or dungarees as they were called). In the '60s, it was tie dye, austin powers and going braless. 70s leisure suits and designer jeans, and let's not forget the brady bunch double knit pants lol......
