I believe in Ontario except for Condos who are protected by the Condominium Act, banning dogs in a lease gets trumped by the Landlord and Tenants act.

Which is stupid in some sense because I don't believe that large breed dogs should be in apartments. Now not all apartments are considers condos for obvious reasons, but I think the L&T should be changed slightly. This is not just for the right of the people living in the building but for the poor dog. No German Sheppard should be raised in an apartment.

Robintheboywonder said:Many Condos only impose a weight restriction which eliminates the bigger breeds but i know when I was searching to lease a condo many were no pets period. My agent explained the rules of pets and leases but that was about 4 years ago. I've since moved on and bought my own place so I'm free to do whatever I please.

Ms.FemmeFatale said:I don't know how much that would fly in court to your favor. I do know I am happy to NOT be a landlord. For these reasons and many others.
That is the way to go if you can do it. Nothing worse then having limitations in your own home.
