This crime scene photograph reveals the realities of the domestic violence that kills one woman in Britain every three days.

The image is upsetting but the police want you to see it. It was taken by a colleague of Inspector Jack Rowland after he was called to a domestic assault in Isleworth, London.

The photograph shows a scene one woman was faced with everyday. The staircase in her home had been riddled with 21 huge steel knives, littered with indecipherable post-it note messages and a warning replica bullet was even placed on the bottom step.

Inspector Rowlands explained, ‘A few weeks back a colleague of mine went to a domestic assault and found this when he entered. Male arrested and charged. Life saved.’
He defended his choice to share the disturbing image with the public, saying: ‘Lots of comments and shock about this picture. An image that raises the awareness of domestic violence and how much more is needed to be done.

According to The Femicide Census, 76% of women killed by their ex-partner or ex-spouse between 2009 and 2015 were killed within the first year that followed their separation.

Enlighten us please..........

My understanding: The expression 'Domestic Violence' relates to violent or aggressive behavior within the home, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner.

In the majority of cases, incidents of domestic violence are typically, but not exclusively, perpetrated by a male aggressor against a female victim.

It was based on this definition that I posted my :NoNoNo:  as in "domestic violence = not cool, ever."

Maybe I misunderstood you. But dude, speak English.

It's a horrible thing to live in fear in your own home, and to be afraid of the person who is your partner in life.

So many men are abused too, but most never tell anyone. We've had a couple threads about that in the past here.

The most tragic appointment I ever had with a client, was many years ago in BC. He was a very high profile, high ranking law enforcement officer. He was terrified to come see me because of who he was, but was desperate for someone to talk to, and something about my ad caught his eye, so he came over for a massage and counseling session.

I was the only person he ever told about what was going on at home, and he was at his breaking point. They'd been married for 25+ years, and she was a chronic alcoholic who beat him severely - every night. And he had to hide it so he wouldn't shame his family or his position at work.

I held him while he cried and I cried with him. It still brings tears to my eyes today as I type this. I felt so helpless because I had no solution to offer him.

Any man being abused by a woman should head to the nearest womens shelter and demand shelter......Two things happen......You demand a lawyer and the press.....You tell your story and demand the same protection a woman can have......

Most men would lose everything if they went public.

It's one reason we need to keep pushing for better legislation regarding our industry though.

Men like that should not be considered criminals for hiring the services of SP's like me. I have literally saved lives by providing a safe place for men to talk about things they couldn't discuss with anyone else. And I know many other SP's do the same.

Stuff like that is hard to forgive. It's such a betrayal of trust and violation of the marriage covenant.
