I think a lot of the negativity has to do with the way the media portrays escorting. Watch any news cast on the subject and the footage they will usually air is the street walkers plying their trade on the streets with their pimps close by. And that seems to resonate with the public. You never see the media portraying the escort as a confident, independent business woman, working in a safe environment, enjoying her clients and what she does for a living. It's always the media spin of her being an exploited woman who needs to be protected from herself and the thugs (not clients) that see her. Until this changes, the public perception probably will not.
Very true and the fact that most clients must remain anonymous and cannot speak up it the other hurdle.
