Free image hosting sites?

I have a collection of personal photos that I want to share selectively from time to time (e.g. through email links, etc.). You know, the kind of stuff you can't possibly put on Facebook. :LMAO:

I had been using ImageShack to host my photos, but now they're asking for money. Now I'm uploading these things on Flickr, and putting them on private and restricted settings. But in order to be able to share from Flickr you need to make these things public. I'm not willing to do that. Are there any sites that allow you to put high security restrictions on the images, while simply allowing you to share them by providing a direct link to the image name?

Also I don't think Flickr allows you to directly refer to the image name through their interface.

You could always pay a hosting service and create your own site...quite easy to do for about a few bucks a month...

And you should consider watermarking your photos so you can maintain copyright.

It is an intelligent device that remains connected to the net allowing you to securely access from anywhere.

Just enough leakability that I can share them through links selectively. Basically, I want just enough privacy about it that it can't be viewed by just about anyone on the street, but something I can put a link into an email or even a PM in here, which can be viewed inline.

Imgur.com is what I use. It's free for x number of pictures in your gallery. You can organize the pictures into albums. Even if you exceed the number in your gallery, the links to the others are still active.

Yeah, I use the 4TB device right now....curiously enough, doing an update as I read this. While I don't access from outside my home network very much, I can.

Personally, I don't put anything on the cloud that I wouldn't want revealing to the whole world.

OK, so set up a directory structure that can't be reached from the main domain page. For example, you can create and have nothing there, but put all your files in and share that link with your friends. Spiders won't find it since it's not linked from the home page, so it won't be wide open.

How many is X number of pictures?.

I think the free account will keep 250 pictures in your gallery. As you add more over 250, it bumps the oldest picture out to make room for the new one. The links to all the old ones are still active, you just can't view them in your gallery.

I haven't spent any time on Imgur but will look it over (although I own several servers of my own for hosting sites, so doubt I'll ever use it). However, the interesting thing is always the terms and conditions, which specify how they can use your content that you upload to their servers. Remember the fuss a couple of years ago whan one of the big sites decided they own your uploaded content and can do anything they want with it?
