Arrested this week on a gang charge and five weapons charges, Meeks fueled tens of thousands of Facebook "likes" and more than 11,000 shares with his blue-eyed, chiseled mug shot-but his wife is "furious," a friend told CBS Sacramento at Meeks' arraignment on Friday.

Meeks' mom insists his criminal life is all in the past. She says he's a family man with a son, a practicing Christian for 7 years, and only packs heat because he's an ex-gang member who has to protect himself, TMZ reports. She's also started a GoFundMe page to raise money for his defense.

According to ABC News, the convicted felon, whose mugshot recently went viral for being really, really ridiculously good looking, has landed a big Hollywood agent and a modelling gig. “Jeremy has an amazing look and has received international attention which I feel can only help him flourish in the entertainment industry,” says agent Gina Rodriguez, who has worked with the Lohans and Nadaya “Octomom” Suleman.

Manson's Bride-To-Be Is 'Smart', Says Mother

A mother has defended her daughter's plan to marry 80-year-old mass murderer Charles Manson who is serving a life sentence in prison.

Bride-to-be Afton Elaine Burton, 26, who also goes by the name Star, said she loves the man convicted of killing seven people, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate. Ms Burton lives near the jail in California and has spent the past nine years trying to help clear him, running websites claiming his innocence.

Her mother Melissa Burton admits the engagement is rather unusual, saying: "It's a different situation." However, she added: "But my daughter is smart. She plans out what she wants to do. She's come to love him."

Mrs Burton, 48, also said she believes Manson is truly in love with her daughter. She told ABC News: "He does. I think he does. She has been good to him."

Ms Burton has claimed she will get married next month although the couple have not yet announced a wedding date. They have until February when their marriage licence expires.

A wedding co-ordinator has been assigned by the prison to handle the nuptials. Mrs Burton said she will not attend the wedding, but insisted: "It's going to happen." She added: "She (Afton) doesn't know when. It's up to the prison to give the date."

She left her parents' home in Illinois at the age of 19 to move to California, where she could be closer to Manson, her mother said.

Mrs Burton believes Manson's work as an environmentalist drew her daughter to him.

The killer, who is not eligible for parole until 2027, is an inmate at Corcoran State Prison. Ms Tate's sister, Debra, who acts as a spokeswoman for the families of Manson's victims, said the impending marriage is "ludicrous." "I think it's insane," she said. "What would any young woman in her right mind want with an 80-year-old man?" As for Manson's motives, she said: "The devil is alive and well."
