For those with the qualified cars. Sleep with your car remote/keys next to you. If ever your house is being burglarized hit the panic button.

Heard it today.

Except, who pays attention to car alarms any more?

Then again, I guess it might scare them away, and that's a good thing...

seems to me that if you are that concerned you might consider an alarm system at the very least.
If you are concerned about police response time then consider a big old fluffy German Shepard.
If that still has you concerned then consider a 12 gauge loaded with a non-lethal rounds of ROCK SALT.

Never do this.

I have a 190lb Mastiff that roams my house at night. The biggest, cuddliest, most wonderful kind of protection a single girl can have IMO

My Tip to Share-
Be kind to someone you meet today; smile, hold a door open, let someone in in front of you while driving- anything; just take a minute to be kind and share that kindness with a stranger.

Why?

We (all people) all need kindness in our lives; but the truth of the matter is that not everyone in this world has the opportunity to receive kindness whether it be in abundance or when they might be most in need.
You never know what someone else has been going through or what kind of support network they might have (they may not have any).
Your kindness could be just what someone needs in their life right now, and it takes nothing more than a simple gesture to give your kindness free and freely to another person passing by.

Take a minute to be kind to someone today :Rose:

Make sure your vital records are correct. If your birth certificate and your ID don't match, get that shit taken care of before it's a problem.

I regularly talk to people who are having issues getting disability/social security/life ins./etc because they've ignored (sometimes for years!) what appears to be a minor discrepancy. If your birth certificate spells your name Philip but you've always spelled it Phillip and so does the DMV, go get the BC amended before you really need it.

While you're at it, get yourself a certified copy of your BC and marriage license. Some places won't accept an original BC, only a certified copy. Resolve any discrepancies (spelling/dates/etc.) before the day comes that you really need those documents to match. Which it will, I promise.

and to any US military vets out there, know where your DD214 is and make sure your family knows as well. If you can't find it, get a certified copy now. Access to those records is extremely limited = if a veteran is still living, only s/he or the VA can get it. No spouse, no child, no parent or sibling. And if the vet is deceased only a widow/er or the VA can get it.

When someone passes away, keep a certified copy of the death certificate. Situations can arise many years later in which you will need it.

certainly this post is worthy of an award! and it's author someone to be admired-btw-mastiffs are wonderful dogs, for those who have the room:)

Old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town. The boy
rode on the donkey, and the old man walked.

As they went along they passed some people who

remarked:

"What a shame, the old man is walking, the boy is

riding."

The man and boy thought maybe the critics were

right, they changed positions.

Later they passed some people who remarked:

"What a shame, he makes that little boy walk,"

they then decided they'd both walk.

Soon they passed some more people who remarked

"They're really stupid to walk when they have a

decent donkey to ride."

They both decided to ride the donkey. They passed

some people who shamed them by saying: "How awful

to put such a load on a poor donkey."

The boy and the man figured they were probably

right, they decide to carry the donkey.

As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip

on the donkey, the donkey fell into the river and

drowned.

The moral of the story: If you try to please

everyone, you might as well kiss your ass goodbye.

Here's another tip I've learned that I feel is important to share-
Be Good to Yourself!

Take time to do something you enjoy:

- indulge your senses with a walk through the fall leaves
- spend time focused on a hobby or personal passion
- have a long bath just to relax and destress
- spend time with your kids just to share in their love
- bake something special, just for yourself
- redecorate just to add personality and beauty to your space
- do anything for you that is 100% all about you!

Make time to tend to your own needs and/or desires:
- discover what you need in order to be the best you you can be, and make a plan of action to obtain those things for yourself
- make a wish list of things you want to experience or obtain as goals in your life and commit to meeting at least one of these things per month, quarter, annually, as your time/budget allows
- add yourself to your already busy schedule; whether it be an hour a day, one afternoon a week, or one day per month- make time for YOU and commit to keeping that schedule for yourself!

Reward yourself* for being the most amazing YOU there ever was:

- make it a point to spoil yourself once in a while
- plan to set aside time and/or finances that are intended to just to treat yourself because you deserve it
- do something that makes you feel good each and every day, and do something that makes you feel amazing as often as possible!

*Rewards don't have be expensive or cost anything at all; you can use the good dishes and add candles to dinner alongside your favorite program while enjoying your favorite meal, you can do your hair and makeup not because you have to but because you deserve it and you like the way you feel all done up, you can dress down and have a day of gaming, programs, movies, or whatever you like to do as you relax, you can go outside to read a book, take a walk through the local park or nearby forest, people watch, explore the architecture of the local area, take inspirational pictures on your cell phone, etc... Rewards are the little things we do for ourselves that are all about us, whether they be tangible in nature or not- they are the gifts we give to ourselves because we deserve them!

Be Good to Yourself Because You Deserve It!
