International Whores' Day or International Sex Workers Day is observed annually on June 2 of each year, honours sex workers and recognises their often exploited working conditions.

The event commemorates the occupation of Église Saint-Nizier in Lyon by more than a hundred sex workers on 2 June 1975 to draw attention to their inhumane working conditions.[SUP][1][/SUP] It has been celebrated annually since 1976. In German, it is known as Hurentag (Whore's Day).

In Spanish-speaking countries, it is the Día Internacional de la Trabajadora Sexual, the International Day of the Sex Worker.

Yes, it’s supposed to be a happy celebration and a time to march/protest for human rights. Sex workers have rights.

Some sex workers tried to organize a day off in protest.
the theory was if nobody had sex that day, that would bring notice to everyone of the importance of sex workers. That was a failure as most wouldn’t/couldn’t take he day off and nobody noticed lack of availability.

I was kinda surprised we didn’t hear a thing about it in Toronto, thought it might become part of the pride month celebration.
