For many that 20 years, I have coached minor sports boys & girls, and I do not have children. Here's the number one rule!
You as parents ensure that your children get to practise and games. You carpool to practise, games and tournaments.

True story, my best friend once offered without asking me, his 17 year old daughter's best friend a ride home, which was out of my way as well. After he mentioned it to me, with his wife and some other adults present, I said, "Hey genius, now you go tell her that you will drive her home because I'm not going that way and take your daughter with you, get it!" I went onto to say, "Do you remember the team rules! Not my kid, not my problem!"
Now, in this situation, my friend's 19 year old son drove his sister's friend home, and yes, he ended up banging her in the car and getting her knocked up!
I also get a chuckle on those who live in the real burbs that lack public transportation (bus) so you want live in a certain area, be prepared to be a taxi driver often or have them driving at 16.
Very smart of you, Coach HOF!
Even driving boys around can be trouble. A family friend shared shuttle duties with other parents. His shit-disturber of a son (then 10 years old) decided to have some fun on the way back from a softball game. He printed on a sheet of paper and held it against the window from the backseat "HELP! I'm being kidnapped!"
The cops in the five cruisers that boxed in this poor guy's car a couple blocks from his home were not amused.
