Whom are you referring to? Good debates stimulate our minds and it is quite common that people may disagree with each other but it doesn't make them sexist and immature.

The board owner thought it was a good idea and then immediately rescinded it once the majority complained that it was unnecessary even though they didn't like the word. I've rarely seen it being used before this and anyone that uses it in a derogatory way is more than likely to get told off. At least I would hope so.

Just so we are clear here, Femme didn't remove the word from the site, admin did.

As in admin agreed to a petition i suppose from more than one of their also valuable members asking for some action, and admin responded. As in admin can get your comments and accusations of preaching and so on, rather than the messenger who simply announced it.

I am actually sorry admin reversed this decision based on what amounts to 4 people bullying the OP of this thread to back off and back down. I just don't see such a small but vocal number being a solid reason for changing what was decided, although we have to all live with the fact that a decision was made then un-made, so to speak.

I usually come to this site because the majority of people do not gang up on other members, or if they try, there are enough reasonable people around to put a stop to it. This is a unique thing on forums, and what makes HUBGFE such a much better site, filled mostly with grownups who know how to behave like civilized human beings, again with a few exceptions, some of whom appear in this thread lol. :biggrin2:

I think there were many in this thread who expressed their concerns over the application of censorship.
It was also expressed that the misuse of a word is what should be addressed and should not be tolerated.

Agreed. You and I know about the inflexibility of board ownership elsewhere. I would have liked to see a poll to establish that the actions were the result of the Vox Populi as opposed to a potentially vociferous minority. The word is in a unique class of its own. It is simply not used in the open like other profanities. I used to work in an outreach program ffor 7 years to men in jail. Hardly ever heard it there, but heard everything else. We need to keep in mind that if this is not a comfortable environment for women to visit, it will impact their participation and affect the vibrancy and growth of the board. I cannot imagine using that word in front of one of our escorts. I can understand the idignation about banning the word. Indignation is a strong male emotion, but tilting at the censorship windmill? C'mon, really? We are, after all, on here openly discussing in (sometimes) great detail who we fucked and how with commensurate graphic language. My 2 cents.

Out of curiosity I polled a considerable number of people I interact with professionally and socially about this C word. I can honestly say I have never used it in my life to describe an individual. Of the dozens of people I asked, only one said they had used it in a derogatory way, to describe an ex wife, but about a quarter admitted to using it as slang for a vagina.

Not sure what that all means, but that's my two cents :biggrin2:
