Loud cell-phone talker removed from quiet car by police

Loud cell-phone talker removed from quiet car by police

A woman who was escorted off an Amtrak train by police last weekend after she allegedly refused to stop talking loudly on her cell-phone has the Internet cheering her fate.

Civilians and quiet-car champions are supporting her ejection for violating policy at high volume during the 16-hour journey. It doesn't help her cause that she became belligerent when confronted about it by one of her fellow passengers.

KOMO News by the incident, though passengers said it was Beard who was being rude by refusing to stop yapping while sitting in one of the train's designated quiet cars. She had not stopped talking since the train pulled out of Oakland, California, 16 hours before it reached Salem, Oregon, when a passenger confronted her about the talking. That's when Beard got "aggressive," , and conductors stopped the train so that police could remove her and charge her with disorderly conduct.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Authorities say a Georgia man "pocket-dialed" 911 and the dispatcher on the other end overheard people discussing a drug deal.
The Hall County sheriff's office says no one was on the call made around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Col. Jeff Strickland says the dispatcher could overhear several people talking about a drug deal involving prescription narcotics.
Authorities say a deputy was sent to a Gainesville Waffle House restaurant where the call originated.
Strickland says the deputy eventually discovered the phone in an employee's pocket. Strickland said the employee then discovered he had accidentally dialed 911.
Authorities say they confronted the 18-year-old Sugar Hill man and found that he had hydrocodone and alprazolam tablets and charged him with drug possession.

Nasa sting catches woman trying to sell moon rock for $1.7m in LA restaurant

Well, according to the report she got screwed. The items people bought were supposedly worth a lot more than they paid for it.

Sorry to see people like this.....wartime mementos of lost loved ones are prized possessions and she should have realized this.

Now to prevent fraud anyone making a claim would have to provide reasonable proof that the items were actually theirs or their family's.......

The baby suffered only minor injuries.Adriana Miranda, 29, was pushing her 4-month-old son in a stroller on Boyd Street on Thursday when Hubbard allegedly reached into the stroller, unbelted the infant and swung him overhead, police said.

She then slammed him into the metal rail of a nearby truck.Police said the mother and her sister tried to fight the woman off.Miranda was eventually able to grab her baby, but Hubbard allegedly kept trying to fight, scratching at her while Miranda held the baby in her arms.
Police said the mother and aunt ran into a nearby store for help as Hubbard ran away, but the store owner pushed them back out onto the street.
Officers were able to find Hubbard after witnesses pointed her out.She was charged with aggravated assault and bail was set at $30,000. She is on probation in two separate cases, one for narcotics and another for battery. Her prior arrests also include aggravated assault and carrying dangerous weapons.Lt.

Paul Vernon of the Los Angeles Police Department said Hubbard told detectives at the police station that she tried to break off the baby’s arm so she could eat it.The baby was treated for minor bruises and scratches.“We’re so lucky Alexander was not more injured than the bruises and swelling he received,” Vernon said. “He’s a tough little boy, and his mom and aunt didn’t hesitate to protect him.”

Toronto-area woman swept over Niagara Fall

The search for the body of a young Toronto-area woman, missing and presumed dead after being swept over Niagara Falls, has resumed Monday morning.

Two female students in their 20s were taking pictures at Table Rock, on the Canadian side of the Falls, Sunday evening.
It appears the victim had climbed onto the metal railing near the river's edge, and posed for a photo on one of the block pillars with her legs straddling the railing around 8:30 p.m., Niagara Parks Police Service said.

Police believe she lost her footing, and toppled into the Niagara River, about 20 metres upstream from the Falls.
The incident was caught on surveillance video, which police reviewed before determining foul play was not suspected.
Next to the victim's friend, there were no other witnesses in the immediate area.

Police called off the search after several hours last Sunday night, resuming around 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Police are not releasing the victim’s name until next-of-kin are notified.
Earlier in the day, a 27-year-old London, Ont., man survived a 30-foot fall into the Niagara gorge. Niagara Parks Police say he and two friends entered the gorge to get "a better view" of the Niagara River.

It took about four hours to rescue the man, with more than a dozen personnel from the Niagara Falls Fire Department using an aerial ladder and cutting some trees to allow access. The man was immobilized, placed in a rescue basket and brought back up to street level.

He was taken to hospital with head trauma and a serious leg fracture. He will likely face charges under the Niagara Parks Act of Ontario are pending.

Man Somehow Fails to Turn His Poop Into Gold By Heating It

https://gawker.com/5852029/man-somehow-fails-to-turn-his-poop-into-gold-by-heating-it

Our mom says that "anything's possible if you put your mind to it," and she's never wrong, so we're fairly certain that there is some way to transform human poop into gold. But mixing the poop with fertilizer and putting it on a heater is not that way, as Irish wannabe wizard Paul Moran recently discovered.

Moran got the idea somewhere (scat fairy tale book? satirical alchemy zine? Michele Bachmann? Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain?) that if he just heated up some poop-ilizer on his electric heater, it would transform into a glittering precious metal.

But as the Belfast Telegraph , Moran's experiment totally failed. Shocking, I know! Instead it created a mass of orange flames that burned up part of his apartment and caused several thousand pounds' worth of damage. Moran was arrested for arson and was just sentenced to three months in jail by a judge who found his experiment "interesting" but bizarre.

Moran's reportedly on anti-psychotic meds now, so hopefully when he gets out of jail he won't try to bake his poop into a pile of diamonds or a platinum bar. It's okay if he uses it for , though.
