#MeToo movement named TIME magazine's 2017 Person of the Year

Asia Argento accused of paying off young actor who says she sexually assaulted him

The actor and #MeToo campaigner – who accused Harvey Weinstein of rape – reportedly paid $380,000 last year to former co-star Jimmy Bennett

One of the most prominent activists of the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment recently settled a complaint filed against her by a young actor and musician who said she sexually assaulted him when he was 17, the New York Times reported.

Argento, 42, settled the notice of intent to sue filed by Jimmy Bennett, who is now 22, for $380,000 shortly after she said last October that movie mogul raped her, the Times reported.

Argento and Bennett co-starred in a 2004 film The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, in which Argento played Bennett’s mother.
Bennett says in the notice that he had sex with Argento in a California hotel in 2013. The age of consent in California is 18. The notice says the encounter traumatised Bennett, affected his mental health and damaged his career, the Times reported.

The notice claims that Bennett arrived at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey to meet Argento in her hotel room on 10 May 2013, with a family member. Argento asked to be alone with Bennett and the family member left. Bennett claims Argento gave him alcohol before proceeding to kiss him and perform oral sex before having intercourse with him.

The documents say that Argento then asked to take a number of photos with him. Photos of Argento and Bennett semi-clothed in bed, as well as an Instagram post of their faces taken on that day, were included in the notice of intent to sue. Three people familiar with the case said the documents were authentic, the Times reported.

^^^^ she should have been arrested and convicted. Then sued.

I hate hypocritical people.

And this is why. She has just sent the movement back hugely. Now people are going to think more about that then all the true victims out there.

She wasn't taught what double standers or she is just a conniving bitch.

The kid was going broke. He had a great time (Name me one 17 year old man that wouldn't) now he is using that to blackmail. Simple as that.

Would any normal men here have said in that public, that they didn't enjoy themselves,... ???

The punk asked for for 3 mil and settled for just under 400 grand. Is that a type that feels the pain and is hurt or one that is greedy and wants a paycheque?.

You be the judge.

Sorry but these are two very ignorant comments.

I have not seen it here, but I have seen it on the red board where a couple of men did, in fact, come out about their abuse as teen boys from adult older women. They discussed how it messed them for sexual experiences later, they talked about their pain and their years of hurt hiding from dealing with it because of comments like what the two of you have made.

They are not the only ones. There are tons of cases that are like this, and more I think that go unreported then even some female sexual assault in certain curcumstances.

He may have gotten a payday, he may have been truly felt victimized, he may have made it a bit of both, but to make such stigmatizing comments is really rude and offensive to all male victims of all abuse, sexual, physical, emotional, financial, etc.

I'm trying to think back to when I was 17 and how I would have dealt with this......and at first blush I would say that I would have been all for this. But then I was Very self conscious kid who lacked a lot of self confidence. I was also very awkward with women.

Maybe an experience like this would have been good for me. I'd like to think it would.

The thing is that we are all humans but still individuals and perhaps this was something that this young man had trouble dealing with. I don't pretend to know what it is like to walk in someone else's shoes. Only he knows this for sure.

I am not actually speaking directly about this case. But because as you say, everyone is different, some will feel victimized and others will feel they scored.

The comments though, where I underlined, are generalized statements that are offensive because they minimize the real pain that some guys go through.

Those types of comments are what make men feel they can't be victims or if they feel they are then they are not "normal" or real men.

This is a mainly male board, you guys all know how society puts pressure on you to be masculine and strong and be the protectors and rescuers, not the victims of anything.

So make victims of assault and abuse are often further victimized because they are silenced by societal stereotypes and stigmas.

I hope my post of advocacy for men and their issues and their fight is heard with the respect I am trying to give it. You don't always know you are doing something if it is not pointed out. Which is all I am trying to do.

So hopefully these guys see that while they are making statements about this case, they are such sweeping statements that they affect the real victims and societies lack in a change of thinking that is really needed.

Hi Miss Jessica.

I get all that, this topic is about a single individual (male or female is irrelevant). But we are talking about an adult now that wants to be a blackmail and that doesn't wash in my books.

I think one would have to know some details about how this "rape" occurred, before a judgment can be made.

I know how I would have reacted if a hot mature women came on to me when I was 17,... :)

Now it the kid was drugged, tied up, or held at gun point, he was gay, stuck a dildo up his ass, that could change the view, but unless we know some details, kinda hard to make an informed judgment on whether or not "rape" actually occurred.

And as far as male members of the red board stating they were "raped" by a mature women, I don't have much faith in whether or not this actually happened to them, a lot of losers over there.

Totally support that. I do. I would say the same
thing if it was a woman doing it as well.

I think there is room to denounce negative beviour and not make additional sweeping statements that counter real victims while discounting that one case.

And to be clear, I am only pointing out what those statements are so they know for the future. I don't think either even realizes that they are considered to be generalizing sweeping statements. And you can know unless someone tells you.

But I do believe in this case, there was a bit of "fuck you, you hypocrite" mixed with a bit of " I'm getting a pay day!!! Yay me!"

I don't think we should be leaving the judgement of what is rape to being solely based on how. To say that man can't be raped because he got hard for example. The physical bodies reaction is certainly different then minds. So I can't quite get on board with it having to be a drugged man or a dildo being stuck up the ass. But we can certainly agree to disagree there.

As for the stories, I only brought up the men on the red board because it is a forum of similar interest where by it was an easier ready example. I believe them and I think you would too if you had read it. But you are free to google and see many many more stories from men that are very real and hard to dispute.

Help me out here, so if a women gets seduced by a man, and can't resist his advances because she is really turned on, that is what some of the blackmailing women are calling rape ?

No. You are thinking of it again as a sexual thing. Not a biology thing.

It is more like, a man rapes a girl and because her body produces fluid to help lubricate the area, that being made to say that she enjoyed it and wanted it.

It is a bodys reaction to something other then pleasureable sex. It is because it is painful and dry and rough. So the body tries to do its natural job. Even if the mind doesn't want it.

Doesn't matter that a woman ALSO gets wet when she is enjoying it.

Does that make better sense? Both can happen. One for a pleasure reason, one for a natural body reaction.

At that age, in your teens, your underwear rubbing a certain way can make you hard when you don't want to be.

^ ?

OK,... we seem to be going off in different directions on this subject ma Lady.

To help me understand your view point, how would you define "rape", including both female and male ?

Good question.

I guess I don't think of things as "rape" anymore but as "sexual assault". Which can include penetration vaginally or anally or orally.

In this case, I believe it was sexual assault based on lack of age to consent.

Does that help?

Asia Argento is not passing the puck to a dead man who cannot defend himself.

Asia Argento issued a statement on the accusations that she raped Jimmy Bennett, and oh boy does it ever read like exactly the same things people said about the women who accused Bill Cosby of rape. I’m going to get right into it, because you need to see this part of her statement, via The Hollywood Reporter.

I was linked to him during several years by friendship only, which ended when, subsequent to my exposure in the Weinstein case, Bennett — who was then undergoing severe economic problems and who had previously undertaken legal actions against his own family requesting millions in damages — unexpectedly made an exorbitant request of money from me. Bennett knew my boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain, was a man of great perceived wealth and had his own reputation as a beloved public figure to protect.

Antony [sic] insisted the matter be handled privately and this was also what Bennett wanted. Anthony was afraid of the possible negative publicity that such person, whom he considered dangerous, could have brought upon us. We decided to deal compassionately with Bennett’s demand for help and give it to him. Anthony personally undertook to help Bennett economically, upon the condition that we would no longer suffer any further intrusions in our life.Or, you know, she passes the buck to her dead boyfriend whose name she spells wron

She also claimed she never had sex with him, but TMZ has texts where she seems to admit to the encounter, although she claims he was the one who initiated it never had sex w

The only problem is in statutory rape cases it doesn’t matter if the minor was the aggressor or not, that’s not a defense. And according to The Guardian, the Los Angeles County sheriff’s office is investigating the incident. Maybe she should start looking for pervert rehabs now.
