I'm so depressed. If voters don't hold Governments responsible for abuse of the public purse then we invite more ineptitude, more abuse. How do Ontario voters express their outrage? Grant the Liberals a majority. Thanks for the Tax increases all you Liberal voters.

I think people sent a clear message to the PC party that they didn't believe for a minute that Hudak could pull a million jobs out of thin air.

The Liberals would have to be ignorant to think that if they don't make positive changes while having a majority government this time, they will lose A LOT of support in the next election.

Would you rather have Hudak in pushing bill 36 to prop up his friends on the federal conservative side? I say good riddance HUDAK! I believe most who wanted to vote NDP held their nose and voted Liberal just to stick it to the Conservatives.

I know I would. If B36 survives I save money from not Hobbying and my taxes go down, the deficit goes down, the Government payroll drops by 100,000, more businesses move back to Ontario for the lower corp taxes and real jobs rain down from the heavens and Rainbows appear, and choirs sing.

I would agree with what the other Dave has said. It wasn't a thumbs up to the Liberals, it was a big thumbs down to Mr Hudak. And I do hope the Liberals realize that too.

Unfortunately, I believe, like previous majorities (of all political ilks) their heads will swell and they'll think they have carte blache to do as they please.

Sadly it seems to be the growing case of picking the lesser evil, or the party that sucks the least. I would love to tell all the parties to go back, get a different leader and try again.

On the bright side, there was a greater voter turn out this time.

LMFAO!!!!!!

The responsibility for the Gas Plant fiasco has now been taken off Mcguinty/Wynne and now belongs to Liberal voters. Liberal voters have to pay the rest of us $1.1Billion.

Hudak would've been a terrible choice for this province, worse than any of the minor financial scandals met with thus far by the Liberals. The PC's haven't been a seriously votable party since Bill Davis. Remember, Mike Harris? That's what Tim Hudak would've been all over again. Nobody needs that ever again.

Gas plant fiasco? Nobody gave a f*k about that, it was a made-up crisis. Worth about a week's coverage at most, not something that would turn into an election. When it went to an election, people saw through it for what it was, an election ploy, and promptly punished the parties who played the ploy.

??????? What, nobody wants a responsible Government? speak for yourself. Did you say Minor financial scandals? You said minor right? I guess $1Billion isn't that impressive.

It would've been impressive for 1950, welcome to the modern world. These days, Facebook, Twitter, and Uber, have valuations much higher than that. And they're all nearly useless companies.

Afraid your not going to get a lot of cred defending the 1Billion scandal and bringing up ancient history with Mike harris. Maybe you can blame George Bush too LOL. But let's just get crazy and pretend, as you say, that the gas plant cover up was all made up. The hard facts are that the Liberals have run us into a $12B deficit. The Liberals plan on borrowing $35B to cover that 12B deficit (made up gas plant scandal included) plus maturing debt and new spending. The Liberals have the Province on the verge of another credit downgrade (which will be their second since they have been in power). You are going to get tax increases under Wynne. It's inevitable. Voters made a great big mistake today.

A made up crisis??!
It cost us $1.1 BILLION!

Then there was the cover up.

I don't think it had anything to do with that. I think it had more to do with him cutting 100,000 jobs. The union ads were pushing the cuts that would take place if the Conservatives were elected. That mobilized the base to push towards the Liberals. The sad thing is that cuts need to be made. Even the Liberals know this because right in their party platform they state:

"A Liberal government will seek to find efficiencies in the public sector" to reduce our debt obligation.
I wonder what on earth that could mean. :-Cool/"

The province is running a deficit. The promises made by Wynn will require higher taxes to pay for. The Liberal call it "investments" while the conservatives call it taxes. The point is we all know where that money comes from. IT'S US! The liberals promised to create an Ontario Pension Plan. So each and every employee will now have to contribute $800 - $1600 per year off their payroll for this. Another Tax. The Liberals promised to invest in transit, hospitals and education. Another Tax. Utility rates are going up and the province is subsidizing it through the "Green Energy Rebate." That will have to come off at some point.

Bottom line is this. When push comes to shove in our own lives we would do exactly what the Conservatives said they would do. Cut spending until we were back our feet. It was a bitter pill that Ontarians were not prepared to swallow. Many people live beyond their means and they see nothing wrong their government doing so.

Come on Dave you cannot be that naive? Parties in power do WHAT THEY WANT because we as the electorate have an attention span of a nat. The Liberals have just proven it in this election.

Final Point:

I can't for the life of me understand WHAT THE FUCK the Conservatives were doing. Ontario has been a Centrist province as of late. Each government has managed to win positioning themselves in the centre. What on earth possessed the Conservatives to take a hard turn right. That was such a stupid move and it will be compacted by the fact that when Conservatives examine what happened they will only talk with other conservatives about what went wrong. NOT THE PEOPLE THAT DID NOT WANT THEM.

:clapping2: Well saidPraise-Bowing

Many who wanted to vote NDP were asked to vote liberal to guarantee a Hudak loss. Many votes were from Canadian men who were pissed off with bill 36. Anyone who likes to use the services of escorts is a fool if they vote conservatives. The OPP for the first time ever went on the attack, the mayor of Mississauga pushed Wynn, the Mayor of Toronto pushed Wynn, Hmmmmmm something tells me Ontario is red to orange not blue.

The latest rumor is Doug Ford if going to take a jab at becoming the next provincial PC leader. At the very least it would make for an entertaining 4 years. The one note that should be taken into account by the Ford camp is their friend Doc Holiday was defeated BOOOYAAAA!:biggrin2:

You see Dave...our thinking isn't all that different! It doesn't really matter what party is elected, one way or another, they increase the size of government and its role in our everyday lives.

I want a real "Conservative" part. One that actually wants to reduce the size and influence of government. Take religion completely the hell out of it. I don't want to see "In God We Trust" on US Currency any more than I would want to see "In Allah We Trust". The argument that the US was founded as a Judeo Christian nation doesn't matter. The reason this nation was founded was to get away from religious persecution back in Europe. People came here to live their lives they way they wished, to follow their beliefs without fear of repercussions from The Church or governments aligned with the churches.

Can you just imagine a country where it doesn't matter if you are christian, jewish, muslim, agnostic, atheist or goat worshipper? Take all of that out of the equation and let people just deal with each other as people, based on their merits. Imagine if we expanded that to ignore race, gender, sexual preference and all of that other crap. Just individuals, dealing fairly with each other and having a government who's only job is to make sure deals and contracts are complied with. A place where people say....that activity over there is against my religion, but the people involved are all adults and are consenting to participate, so we're just going to mind our own business and avoid that place and that activity. Life would go on so much more pleasurably for everyone.

Most of our trouble comes from people getting in other peoples' business.

- Look at that person. My god says that what s/he's doing is a sin. Therefore s/he should be stopped for her own good! It doesn't matter that the person is an adult and okay with doing it.

- That person over there started a business that is thriving and s/he's making a ton of money. That's not fair to the person who didn't start a business or who failed to work hard or who was just plain unlucky. We should take things from the successful individual and give it to the poor individual.

- That person over there is putting something into their body that might be bad for them. We don't think they should be able to choose for themselves, we should decide for them and ban whatever we think shouldn't be put into the human body.

I can't say I totally disagree with your thinking. I detest government interference in personal issues. I think all politicians are self serving yes men/women that only care about the next election and keeping power.
